Big thank you to the Bellingen Shire Council waste team for supplying the bins for The Dorrigo Show.

Kunapippi had a big job doing all the rubbish by herself over the weekend.

A big help was an emergency drop off of bin liners - organised by BSC waste management coordinator and overall legend Sam Tate.

Without them, a Guide Leader would have gone head first to empty every bin - instead of 10 or so!

Bellingen Shire Council supports local not-for-profit events with waste management - it's an appreciated service!

Huge thank-you to the lovely ladies of the CWA Dorrigo who shared their kitchen and rooms with the Dorrigo Guides so we could practice our baking to enter the competition at the The Dorrigo Show next weekend.

Plus our helpers - Guide dad Tony and Guide mum Nickey - we couldn't have done it without you!

We made some delicious scones and gingerbread ๐Ÿฅฃ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ

A big thank-you to all the Guides and families who cooked for our stall at the Made In Dorrigo markets yesterday. And a special thanks to the Dorrigo Guide who worked so hard all day!

We sold almost all our Christmas treats and got to have some great chats with Dorrigo community members. Great day and a very well-organised event by Made In Dorrigo.

A soon to be master of ice-blocking on the slopes with the Dorrigo Girl Guides! Mud made it even better.

02/12/2021

The Dorrigo Girl Guides hit the slopes - ice blocking! We made slippery sleds ๐Ÿ›ท by freezing big blocks of ice with a bit of rope in them for a handle.

We took them to the top of hills and tried to find the perfect run.

This one was pretty great - the mud made it nice and slippery.

Lisa and Kristen had a go, but they found out grown-ups go a LOT faster than kids. Almost too fast ...

We also made yummy nutella quesadillas on our little stove at the picnic shelter - so a good afternoon all round.

Dorrigo Girl Guides meet at the Hall on Vine Street, Thursdays 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm.

Unless we're out on an adventure - which we often are ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ›ท๐ŸŒณ

The Dorrigo Guides have been learning first aid. Sadly, tragedy struck - there was a tiger attack outside the Hall!

Good thing we know how to put injured people in the recovery position, call an ambulance and put pressure on a wound to stop bleeding!

Plus lots of other useful first aid skills in case of emergencies, big or small.

Dorrigo Girl Guides meet Thursdays from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm at the Hall on Vine Street. For more information on Guiding visit https://www.girlguides-nswactnt.org.au

Time to get excited - seven more sleeps!

4 September 1909 a pioneering group of girls marched in a Boy Scout Rally at Crystal Palace. These girls were marching for their voices to be heard. From this march, the Girl Guides movement was founded.

Girl Guides have proudly advocated for the female voice to be heard for more than 100 years, and the movement is as important today as it has ever been, across more than 10 million girls and young women in more than 150 member countries globally.

Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT encourages girls and young women to develop a positive self-image, confidence, and self-esteem. Girl Guides provides a place where a girl can learn to lead, discover her own path at her own pace, and how to look out for a neighbour in need. A place where experience can be shared. A place where appreciation for the natural world can be sparked and wonder revealed.

Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT have a century of experience in supporting young girls become the women of tomorrow. And whilst the world has changed, the need to support young girls in helping them realise their potential has not. Girl Guides empower the women of the future; for they will not only impact their families, communities, and countryโ€”they will change the world.
