This weekend, we're encouraging all Roosters players, families, volunteers and supporters to get behind the Mark Hughes Foundation's Beanie for Brain Cancer Round.

ROUND 7️⃣ WRAP-UP

What a fantastic weekend for the Roosters!

Our Under 7s officially graduated from the NRL TackleReady program with a celebration gala day at McDonald Jones Stadium. After weeks of learning the fundamentals of safe tackling and contact, they are now fully-fledged tackle players. It was a wonderful milestone for the team, and we couldn't be prouder of the progress they've made throughout the season.

On the field, we enjoyed an outstanding home round with plenty of wins on the board across our junior grades. While the scoreboard is only one measure of success, it was pleasing to see the hard work of our players and coaches rewarded.

Across our Mini and Mods teams, we're continuing to see significant growth in confidence, skill development and game understanding. Week after week, our young Roosters are showing improvements in teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship, which is exactly what junior rugby league is all about.

A huge thank you to our volunteers, coaches, managers, match officials and families who continue to make game days possible. Your support creates the environment that allows our players to thrive.

Congratulations to all teams on another successful weekend in Roosters colours.

🏈 ROUND 7 🏈

Welcome to Round 7, Roosters!

We've got another big weekend of footy ahead, with 10 games at home, 10 games away, and a few special events to celebrate along the way.

A huge congratulations to our Under 7s, who will graduate from their TackleReady program this weekend with a Gala Day at McDonald Jones Stadium. We can't wait to see them take the field at the home of the Knights!

Our Under 12 Division 1 team enjoy a BYE this round, while our Under 11 Division 2 side will back up on Sunday to play their Round 4 catch-up game at Cardiff.

As always, please check your team chats for any last-minute updates and make sure you're aware of your game times and locations.

A reminder to all home game teams that the volunteer roster is now available. Team Managers are responsible for ensuring their team's rostered volunteers attend their allocated duties and arrange replacements where required. Our game days simply don't happen without our volunteers 🫶

Good luck to all teams this weekend. Play hard, play fair, and play proud.

We're excited to be partnering with McDonald's Morisset and the Newcastle Knights to bring our young Roosters a fun-filled afternoon of footy, skills and prizes!

Players from our Under 5 to Under 9 teams are invited to join us for a special McDonald's Fun Night featuring:

🏉 Skills clinic rotations
🏉 Special guest appearance from a Newcastle Knights player
🏉 Group photo opportunity
🏉 Dinner at McDonald's Morisset
🏉 Presentations and giveaways

📅 Tuesday 23 June
⏰ 5:00pm – 6:15pm
📍 Dora Creek Workers Club Oval & McDonald's Morisset

The clinic will commence at 5:00pm, with players rotating through a series of fun skill-based activities before heading to McDonald's Morisset for dinner and presentations.

Please note that the McDonald's component of the evening is specifically for our Under 5 to Under 9 players. Older players and families are, of course, welcome to come down to the ground, watch the activities and support the event.

ROUND 6️⃣ WRAP UP

Footy was finally back this weekend, and it was fantastic to see our Roosters back out on the field after a couple of weeks off.

Round 6 had a bit of everything – a big win, some big losses, a narrow miss, and a draw. And while we don't keep scores in our Mini and Mod age groups, it was fantastic to see our youngest Roosters back out there having fun, developing their skills, building confidence and showing great sportsmanship. That's what junior footy is all about 🫶

A special shout out to our Under 5 Blue team - especially Lauren, Jamielee, and Brad Soltau - who along with his family stayed for the entire day and helped wherever they were needed. Your willingness to pitch in and support the club is very much appreciated.

A reminder that this Wednesday night we'll be hosting our State of Origin II Family Night in the auditorium. This is a great opportunity for our Roosters families to come together, enjoy some awesome footy on the big screen, and cheer on their team in one of rugby league's biggest spectacles.

Footy is back, Roosters!

Welcome to your Round 6 schedule as we return to the field!

We kick things off tomorrow night with our Under 15s playing under the lights at Cardiff, before a quieter Saturday at home with five games.

13 of our teams are on the road this weekend, including our Under 7s who are just about ready to wrap up their TackleReady program. It's been fantastic watching our newest Roosters develop their skills and confidence throughout the season.

This round, our Under 5 Red, Under 12WT Division 2 and Under 14 Division 3 teams all enjoy a BYE, while our Under 16WT Division 1 side have forfeited.

As always, please check in with your Coaches and Managers for any last-minute updates and make sure you're across your game times and locations.

🏉 2026 CLUB CAPTAINS 🏉

Our coaches and committee were called to vote, and the nominations were clear. We are incredibly excited and proud to announce our 2026 Southlakes Roosters Club Captains:

❤️💙 Shania AiolupoteaPei (U16WT)
❤️💙 Cohen Souz (U15)

Shania joined the Roosters in 2022 and has already achieved so much in her young career, earning selection in several representative sides and recently being awarded Lake Macquarie City Council’s 2026 Young Ambassador of the Year. She leads with passion, dedication and humility, and is a wonderful role model for our younger players.

Cohen has been part of the Roosters family since 2016. Off the field, he’s a loveable character who keeps everyone smiling, and on the field, he’s an absolute weapon! His loyalty, energy, and team-first attitude make him a fantastic leader within our club.

Both Shania and Cohen are outstanding representatives of the Southlakes Roosters and will provide great support to our players throughout the season.
