IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

Please be advised that Allan N is stepping down from his roles as President of Lake Macquarie Squash Association and Watagan Squash & Wellness effective immediately.

Some might be aware that Allan has been struggling with Cystic Fibrosis and has been focusing on tests and treatment, as well as the symptoms that come along with the condition

We are sure many will agree that, with the other Board members, he has been instrumental in assisting build Watagan Squash to the success it has become. We have record income, memberships and a strong reputation as a competitive club and great hub for the local community. This includes new players, many women and juniors now within our player membership

“I’m extremely proud to look back over 2 years to see how we transformed the tired centre into a vibrant, socially significant and competitive centre offering a range of squash and wellness activities. I’d like to thank everyone who understood the effort and sacrifice that it took.” - Allan N

Naturally this creates some key volunteer vacancies and amendments to some of the governance activities.

With that in mind we will be releasing information about the changes and will be asking people in the playing group to step up and contribute to keeping this centre growing and succeeding either as a Board member and / or volunteer

IMPORTANT MEMBER NOTICE

Allan N is back from holidays and recovering from his fall last week and is finalising the 2026 Jan-Jun memberships that are overdue for next Tuesday and will contact those who are outstanding. We recognise some have been chasing US and we appreciate that but we will get those close out and will provide extra time for Jul-Dec 2026 memberships which will be normally be due in a month or so to assist. We thank you in anticipation of helping us rule a line under Jan-Jun 2026 membership promptly when we contact you.

Thanks for your support of the club in Allan N absence and as always acknowledge of Mark and Danny (and Paul) for their support, plus countless other coordinators for Monday and Friday AM and Sunday PM programs

It’s worth reflecting on a strong 2 years at Watagan where we have record membership, have record member retention, meet our fiscal obligations whilst being not for profit AND have built a cool community at the same time. We have also provided employment opportunities and introduced yoga and massage programs too

None of this happens by luck, and there is ever MORE to do with the NSW Masters in August, our Hunter Junior Circuit, and our Watagan Majors Finals for Autumn 2026

You will learn some additional information soon too - the first 3 years was always intended to be a purely Board run affair and once stabilised was always intended on being a July 2027 Member run association with the change of the constitution to include your voting and say. If you love Watagan as much as we do there will be opportunities to join their board and / or volunteer to help run our program, tournaments and circuit activities in support of Wayne, Adrian and others

If we are honest it’s been A LOT of work and the current volunteers are getting a little tired and can use your support - more on that soon on how you can get involved today!

As always, we know we are not perfect (yet) and if you are ever frustrated or have ideas please do contact Allan N, Mark or Danny for your feedback

It’s a community club and we LOVE input we can use and are proud of what we have all created together so let’s keep this place going strong

NEWBIES NOTE

Hi all, Allan took a big tumble on the court Sunday and isn’t in a great way so we are a volunteer down

Consequently we won’t be able to run Newbies tonight in his absence. We will work to fill a roster for the next week or so in his absence as it looks a little more than minor

Therefore the centre will be closed to those who do not have key access

Apologies for the disruption - he was super keen to be back supporting all the eager players
