๐ Weekend Wrap Up ๐
Women - unfortunately our ladies where defeated by Harvey Benger in yesterdays elimination final. That sees our ladies year come to a close, although not the way we would have liked it, we canโt let a bad result shadow whatโs been an amazing year. A year thatโs been full of amazing individual efforts from 50s to 100s and a some 5fas in between along with a record breaking team total. Our ladies have still had an amazing year, a team full of some superstar youth and a few wise stalwart veterans. Youโve done the club proud ladies!
B Grade - In a must win game against Leschenault at home to potentially cement a top two spot, The boys were sent into bat. It was a steady start by Mark and Corbyn before Corbyn ended being dismissed. That brought Troy to the crease and to be honest, Troy may as well have stayed camping ๐ Pete and Mark begin to build a steady partnership before the flood gates opened. Wickets every where, seeing our score at 6 for 76. This brought the ever reliable Kempy to the crease, up the other end was Evan quietly shipping away, the boys batted beautifully, slowly building, slowly putting the pressure back on Leschy, before Evan ended up departing for a well crafted 45 and a good 88 run stand with Kempy. At 7-164 Kempy then began to put the foot down helped by a nice knock from Reily to get the total up to 211. Kempy finishing on 61. An awesome performance with the ball as the ever reliable Noah was as always economical up the top supported by Hamish up the other end. The bowling attack consistently taking wickets until the two young boys from Leschy dug the heals in and batted for a while. That only meant for one thing. Our fearless captain had seen enough, the arm started to warm up and thatโs all she wrote. In a matter of 5 overs from Mark it was all over, helping himself to 3 wickets for bu**er all runs. The boys win with the bonus point and finish second on the ladder! A great result!
C Grade - In the same situation as Bs, they win, they finish second, they lose, the finish fourth. Our boys batted first seeing Jimmy and Mark Della Sale get off to a watchful but positive start. The first wicket fell at 1-44 and it was carnage after that. Seeing their team total restricted to just 99 the boys knew they had their work cut out with the ball. I think we will leave it there. Burekup chased the total down pretty quickly only loosing 3 wickets. Tough day for our Cs with a couple late outs causing a bit of havoc prior to the game.
D Grade - well unfortunately our Ds came ever so close of making the finals, loosing last week holting our chances of that. Our Ds played collie and with a couple late outs due to C grade needing numbers, Ds where on the back foot before the game even began. Our Ds batted first and where restricted to just 87 runs, a very hand knock from Welshy with 41, but a highlight of the innings was seeing norm and sharee bat together at the end with a two run partnership. Unfortunately for sharee she got a golden duck so now the keg count starts. Collie chased the total down very quickly and unfortunately thatโs all she wrote for a D boys this year. Still an amazing achievement finishing so close to 4th spot.
