🏆 NEW CLUB RECORDS 🏆

Well done to Alyssa, Jasper and Ian for setting new short course club records during the 2026/27 Victorian Age Short Course Championships! 🔥

Alyssa had an outstanding meet, breaking five club records across the 50M Freestyle, 100M Freestyle, 100M Breaststroke, 100M Medley and 200M Medley. Her 1:17.96 in the 100M Breaststroke and 2:32.44 in the 200M Medley also saw her take down long-standing records previously set 7 years ago! 💪

Jasper continued his strong form, lowering his own records in the 13 Years 50M and 100M Freestyle. 🏆

Ian also lowered his own record in the 13 Years 100M Medley. 🏆

An incredible achievement from all three swimmers. Congratulations! 🏊

🏆 NIGHT 3 of the 2026/27 Victorian Age Short Course Championships! 🏆

The night began with Alyssa once again, this time in the 200M Breaststroke. Knocking 4s off her time from the heats, she constructed her race well, touching the wall in a time of 2:50.96 to secure 4th place.

Finishing the meet off in style, Alyssa sprinted home in the 50M Freestyle, finishing in a time of 27.72 to claim the bronze medal once again! 🏅

Qualifying 3rd fastest into the 50M Freestyle final, Jasper’s speed was on full display tonight, swimming a time of 25.44 to also finish 3rd!

What a way to finish the meet Jasper! 💪

Jasper was not alone in the final. Ian snuck his way into the 50M Freestyle final too, qualifying 10th and finishing equal 9th in a time of 26.56!

Great job Ian! 🏊

The night finished off with another relay, the Mixed 12-14 Years Old 4 × 50M Freestyle Relay. Jasper lead the team off once again, swimming under 26s to put the team in a good position for Cody to lead the charge, moving the team up a position in the heat. Skylar was next, swimming a sub 30s time once again before the recent medalist, Alyssa, anchored the race. She dived in and swam under 28s bringing the team to finish in a solid time of 1:49.99 and 13th overall.

Well done team! 🏆

Overall, DTSC finished in 34th place out of 63 clubs that scored points. Fantastic performance from all swimmers who qualified, showed up and gave it their all during every swim. To come away with 3 medals and a top 10 place in a relay is a big achievement. Big thanks to coaches Darren and Nooshin for their attendance and to club captain Thomas for his attendance throughout the weekend too.

🏆 NIGHT 2 of the 2026/27 Victorian Age Short Course Championships! 🏆

Returning to finals again in all her events, Alyssa outdid her performance from night 1. The night started off with an amazing podium finish in the 100m Freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 1:01.25 to claim the bronze medal! 🏅

For her other event of the night, the 100M Medley, the battle for 3rd place was fierce. She held her speed from the morning, finishing in 6th with a time of 1:09.03.

Great job again Alyssa! 💪

Jasper returned to the finals session too, this time in the 100M Freestyle. Coming off a small PB in the heats, he backed it up with another PB, finishing 8th in a time of 57.58. His back end speed was on display, swimming the second 50M in under 30 seconds.

Well done Jasper! 🏆

The highlight of the night - the relays.

The Girls 12-14 Years Old 4 × 50M Medley Relay was lead of by Zoe in the backstroke, taking the race out fast before changing over to Joanna for the breaststroke who absolutely smashed her individual PB by over 2.5s. Alyssa did what she does best in the butterfly, swimming under PB time and bringing the team up 2 places in the heat before Skylar dived in for the freestyle where she swam a sub 30 seconds time, maintaining the teams position.

The Boys 12-14 Years Old 4 × 50M Medley Relay team were on fire tonight! Jasper lead off in the backstroke, smashing his PB where he swam a time of 30.32 and qualified for State Opens. Up next was Sam, who brought the team to 2nd after the end of the breaststroke leg where he split a time of 33.11, 1.75s under his best time.

The time drops were not over. Ian’s perfect dive gave him one of the best starts where he absolutely flew to the wall, splitting a time of 28.68, 1.3s under his best time. Cody dived in for the freestyle where he fought to chase down Melbourne until the very end. Swimming the fastest split of the heat, in a time of 25.27, he brought the team to 2nd in the heat and 9th overall.

🏆 NIGHT 1 of the 2026/27 Victorian Age Short Course Championships! 🏆

For Alyssa’s first State Championships, every swim she did just got better and better, qualifying through to the finals in all of them. 🔥

Her state final debut started off strong with an amazing performance in the 200M Medley, finishing 6th in a time of 2:32.44.

She then backed it up with another 6th place finish in the very competitive 100M Breaststroke, with a time of 1:17.96.

Finally, her blistering front end speed in the 100M Butterfly brought her to 5th place, knocking 1.65s off her PB in a time of 1:08.97.

Well done Alyssa! 🏆

Jasper also made his state final debut, this time in the 100M Backstroke. Despite adding some time onto his swim from the heats, he took the race out strong and finished under his meet entry time, finishing 10th in a time of 1:08.29.

The night finished off with the Boys 12-14 Years Old 4 × 50M Freestyle Relay. Jasper lead the team off strong, but Cody dived in next and proved his place swimming the fastest time of the team. He handed the race off to Mathew who swam under PB time, giving Ian the room to bring the team home fast which he did. The team finished 11th overall in a time of 1:48.23.

Congratulations to Thomas Radford on being named Swimming Victoria’s 2025/26 Young Leader of the Year. The 2026 Swimming Victoria Awards Ceremony were held earlier this month, bringing together the swimming community to celebrate the achievements, performances and contributions that have shaped the past season.

The Young Leader of the Year award recognises athletes aged between 15 - 23 years old who have shown outstanding leadership within their club, in and out of the pool.

Thomas has been a valuable member of DTSC for over 8 years and we are so proud to see how far he has grown as a swimmer and a leader. Well done Thomas! 🏆 Swimming Victoria
