Squats are one of the best exercises you can do for building strength, muscle, fitness and overall athleticism.

But one of the biggest mistakes people make is walking into the gym with no structure. Random reps. Random weights. Random rest periods.

The people who make the best progress are the ones who follow a plan.

Knowing exactly:
• How many sets you’re doing
• How many reps you’re aiming for
• What weight you’re lifting
• When to increase the load

…allows you to progressively improve week after week instead of just “working hard” and hoping for results.

Structure creates progression.
Progression creates results.

Whether your goal is fat loss, muscle gain, strength or simply moving better, having a coach and a proper training structure can completely change the speed of your progress.

If you want to learn how to squat properly and train with purpose, come train with me at The Fitness Club Docklands.

One of the best parts about this job is watching people surprise themselves. 😂

This was just a normal conversation with one of my clients after checking her latest body composition results… and honestly, these are the types of messages that make all the hard work worth it.

People think transformations happen from doing crazy things… but most of the time it’s:
• Training consistently
• Building momentum
• Learning better habits
• Having accountability
• And sticking at it long enough to actually see the results happen

The cool part is that once people start seeing progress, everything changes:
Confidence goes up.
Energy goes up.
Motivation goes up.
Life gets easier.

Proud of this one 👏🔥

If you’re in Docklands and you’ve been thinking about finally getting yourself back into shape, send me a message and let’s get started.

Lunch sessions. No fluff. Just arms.

We’re running a 10-week, men-only arm specialization program designed to do one thing well:
👉 build serious arms.

• Train arms only
• Twice per week
• Guaranteed progress
• Limited spots

If you’ve been training for years and your arms still haven’t caught up — this is for you.

This Sunday at noon we’re drawing a $5,000 prize — and the rivalry is at its peak

Every year at our private training studio in Docklands we run a full season competition:
Creators vs Destroyers.

It’s not a one-off challenge.
It runs all year.

Training consistency, strength challenges, discipline, showing up when it’s hard — it all counts. Points add up week after week until one team takes the season.

2025 was huge.
Competitive. Tight. Back and forth all year.

And for the first time, the Destroyers won the season.

That matters because this Sunday at 12:00pm, we finish the year with our $5,000 end-of-season reverse raffle — and the rules are simple:
• Every person who attends gets a ticket
• Destroyers get double chances in the draw
• Creators still have a shot — just fewer tickets

Here’s what makes it interesting:

The last two years, the Creators won the season… and a Creator won the raffle both times.
The double-chance system worked exactly as designed.

Now the tables have turned.

Destroyers have the advantage this year, and everyone knows it — but nothing is guaranteed in a reverse raffle. One name. One moment. One person walking away with $5,000.

That’s why the energy is high right now.

People aren’t just excited about the prize — they’re excited because it represents:
• a full year of effort
• consistency paying off
• being part of something bigger than just “going to the gym”

Win or lose, 2025 has been one of the most exciting seasons we’ve had.
And this prize draw is the perfect way to cap it off.

If you’re part of the studio — we’ll see you Sunday.
If you’re not, just know this: training hits different when there’s real skin in the game.

THE TIME IS NOW.

This sign sits out the front of the studio, but the message isn’t just for passers-by.

Every January, people talk about change.
Most wait for the “right time.”
Very few act.

Health and fitness don’t change when life gets quieter.
They change when you decide to stop negotiating with yourself.

Stronger body.
Less pain.
More energy.
More confidence.

Not through motivation.
Through structure, consistency, and accountability.

New year. Same rules.
You show up → the results follow.

If 2026 is the year you stop starting and actually commit, you already know what to do.

The time isn’t coming.
It’s now.

You wouldn’t choose to manage your projects at work using a sub optimal strategy?

So why do it with your fitness?

At The Fitness Club Docklands, personal training isn’t just about sets and reps, losing weight and growing muscle. It’s about doing your fitness the best way it can be done.

Our approach is more diverse than the average PT studio or commercial gym based PT.

From individual performance testing to team-based challenges we build strength, endurance, and camaraderie.

Sounds like something any gym would say right?

So where we are different comes down to how we provide our members with meaningful and fulfilling roles they thrive from at a capacity unachievable in conventional gyms.

This is an entirely different approach to what is happening in the industry elsewhere.

It’s not just personal training, it’s also a yearly season of challenges, teamwork, growth, disappointment from losing, elation from winning and sleeping joyfully knowing you’re using your time and effort wisely.

Why just grow your body to be athletic when you can train with purpose and apply your new abilities into fun games and competitions?

Like a sports club but with a stronger focus on your individual development plan.

And like sports class back in school, only way better. Run by the grown up kids that excelled in sports class.

One of our most iconic challenges is the Trio Of Dips.

A signature Creators vs Destroyers event that puts your body and mindset to the test.

Here’s how it works:

• Complete all three stations back-to-back. Ski, Bike & Row.

• Record your total time.

• Finish under 30 minutes and you earn triple points.

• Under 40 minutes, you score double points.

• Under 45 minutes, you get one solid point for your team.

• Half or quarter distances can also be completed for scaled points.

Never in the club’s history has a Creator achieved a sub 30 minute race.

6 Destroyers have!

Every Trio completed in time adds points to your team’s total and the first team to reach 50 points wins.

Right now, the leaderboard stands at:
🔥 Destroyers: 28.5
⚡ Creators: 22.75

Last season The Destroyers took the W, and as of now both the Dz and the Cz have 2 overall premiership points so every competition is influential.

Creators took out Hoops 2025 and Dribbling Gauntlets, while The Destroyers have won Water Week and Towells.

Planking Darts is also currently under way with The Creators and The Destroyers both on 5 bullseyes each. First to 20!

As the end of the season approaches the remaining competitions open up and the teams will be doing everything they can to take victories and premiership points.

The race is on, and every effort counts. 💪

The team crowned season champions have their chances doubled to win the $5000 prize awarded at the end of every year.

So it’s absolutely worthwhile winning 🏆

There are three main types of muscle contractions in the human body, each involving different ways that muscles generate force and produce movement:

🟢 1. Isotonic Contractions

These involve a change in muscle length as the muscle generates force and movement occurs.
There are two subtypes:

• Concentric Contraction
• The muscle shortens as it contracts.
• This happens when the force produced by the muscle is greater than the resistance.
• Example: Lifting a dumbbell during a biceps curl (the upward phase).
• Function: Produces movement and acceleration.

• Eccentric Contraction
• The muscle lengthens under tension.
• This happens when the resistance is greater than the force produced, but the muscle still controls the movement.
• Example: Lowering the dumbbell during a biceps curl (the downward phase).
• Function: Controls movement and absorbs force (important for deceleration and joint stability).

🔵 2. Isometric Contractions
• The muscle produces tension without changing its length.
• No movement occurs at the joint.
• Example: Holding a plank, or holding a dumbbell still halfway through a curl.
• Function: Stabilization and maintaining posture.

🔴 3. Isokinetic Contractions
• The muscle changes length at a constant speed throughout the range of motion, with maximum tension applied at all points.
• This type requires specialized equipment (like a dynamometer).
• Example: Controlled movements on an isokinetic machine in rehabilitation or performance testing.
• Function: Allows measurement of muscular strength and endurance at controlled speeds.

Understanding this can help you when you’re training and competitions.

Do you approach your training with muscle contraction types in mind? And what’s a way that you express it in your performance?

In today’s fast-paced world, fitness isn’t just about looking good—it’s about living better. Regular exercise improves energy levels, focus, resilience, and overall mood. These benefits flow far beyond the gym—they show up at work, in relationships, and in daily life.

For employers and professionals, the connection is clear:
• ✅ Higher Productivity – Active individuals experience sharper concentration, faster decision-making, and less fatigue during the day.
• ✅ Stronger Resilience – Exercise reduces stress, boosts problem-solving, and helps people adapt quickly under pressure.
• ✅ Improved Wellbeing – Healthier bodies mean fewer sick days, less burnout, and greater job satisfaction.

Investing in fitness is really an investment in people—their health, their happiness, and their performance. When someone feels strong and confident in their own body, they bring that same strength and confidence into their work.

At the end of the day, a fitter team is not just a healthier team—it’s a more productive, creative, and engaged workforce.
