Started on 7 May 2000 and officially opened by the Minister for Major Projects on 6 September 2000, we sailed from the Docklands Service Pontoon/Marina directly across from the Colonial (now Etihad) Stadium

2001 our club location and access to Shed 5 between the docks and Colonial Stadium finished when that was demolished to become public space. The Docklands Authority kindly allowed us the use o

f Shed 3 for club rooms, boat storage and toilets/showers. In 2002 the pontoon was moved to the side of the south quay in front of Shed 9 up the middle of the north and south quays. The Colonial Stadium became renamed as the Telstra Dome and we did most of our sailing directly in front of the Telstra Dome and in full view of its observation decks. In January 2003 Sailing For Everyone merged with Sailability and became Sailability Victoria, Sailing for everyone under the auspices of the Victorian Yachting Council or VYC. February 2003 at our AGM it was decided to change our name, after almost three years of operation, to Docklands Sailability and to enter into negotiations with the newly formed Docklands Yacht Club (DYC). March 2003 we had our first joint sailing Regatta with the DYC, S4E Ballarat and Geelong Sailability clubs, to help celebrate the Melbourne Osaka Two Handed Ocean Race farewell. It was a team event with DYC coming first, Geelong second and Ballarat third. Presentation of the trophies was held at the "Around the World in Eighty Dishes" festival at Shed 4 where the Osaka racing fleet was moored. Until December 2015 Docklands Yacht Club operated out of Shed 2 on North Wharf. Construction on the new Community Boating Hub on Collins Street is completed and January 2016 will see our last move into our permanent home.
