Wimmera Hockey Association - Round Two
After just two rounds, the Women’s division has a familiar look, with the top three teams from last season all recording victories today and remaining undefeated so far in 2026, but there are signs that change may be coming in the other two competitions.
The Dimboola Roos and Yanac both had comfortable victories over Warrack and the Horsham Jets, respectively, and, in a closer result, Kaniva overcame the Nhill Thunderbirds by three goals to two.
Perennial leaders in the Open competition, the Yanac Tigers, are in a familiar position at the top of the ladder after a solid win over the Horsham Hurricanes in the rematch of last year’s grand final, but below them, the Nhill Rangers continue to improve with another impressive performance to tie their match with the Kaniva Cobras, with both remaining in the top four. The Warrack Hoops had the bye.
A second consecutive victory by the Dimboola Kangaroos, on this occasion over the Warrack Revengers, has them in the unfamiliar place at the top of the ladder, although last year’s grand finalist Yanac Warriors is close behind them as they also remain undefeated after a win over the Horsham Bombers.
The Nhill Leopards had a narrow win over the Kaniva Raiders in the other Under 16 match.
*** Full scores, match reports, and current ladders will appear in the local media during the week. ***
