I'm seeing a lot of hate and anger on Facebook lately. Friends uncharacteristically criticising others. COVID conspiracy theorists telling others to "wake up!" or "open your eyes". Non-believers calling others "crazy" or "nut jobs". Is it so hard to allow people to believe what they want to believe??
Some of the side effects of solitary confinement include physical degradation, anxiety, paranoia, depression, obsessive thoughts and anger. The list goes on, it's scary. Here in Victoria with our current restrictions, it can feel like that's exactly what we're going through, but it doesn't have to be. These restrictions are a large obstacle in our lives at the moment, of that there's no doubt, but our lives have always been filled with obstacles: work, school, bills, illness etc. and if we can overcome them, we can overcome this. Let's try to come out of this better versions of ourselves, because I guarantee you'll never get a better opportunity to put some serious time into YOU. Try not to spend too much time watching tv, or on your phone, you aren't better for it. Get your daily exercise, spend time in the garden, learn to do yoga, build a veggie patch, learn a language, read a self help book, learn to do salsa, teach yourself guitar, plan a renovation, learn to to a handstand, bake, there are so many fantastic beneficial things you could be doing! And if you are going to use social media, please keep it positive, platforms such as Facebook SHOULD be an amazing tool for us to stay connected and help each other through, not one for spreading fear and hatred.
Stay safe gang!
