🔥 ROUND 6 – FINAL ROUND | 2026 AFPGP SEASON 🔥
What a season it’s been — full of highs, lows, and moments that reminded us just how intense Formula Powerboat racing can be.
We kicked off the 2026 season on Lake Macquarie City Council as part of the Fast and Loud Festival setting the tone early. Chasing Speed’s Darren Hitchcock took flight on the back straight, while Riley Bride in Phantom (F4) had a corner incident. Both drivers walked away okay, marking the first incidents of their racing careers.
From there, it was on to TAREE POWER BOAT CLUB for the Two‑Day Club Day, where Problem Child driver Mitch Williams experienced his first major incident, barrel‑rolling through the bridge corner — a dramatic reminder of the raw nature of the sport.
We then headed to a brand‑new venue, Mildura, for the USA & NZ vs Australia BAD Boat Challenge. International competition raised the bar, with Ewan Bricker (TBR) taking Pole Position before becoming involved in an incident during Race 1.
Next was Mulwala Waterski Club, welcoming us back once again. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas — and with conditions against us, no racing could be completed and zero championship points were awarded for the weekend.
Round 5 saw us return to Yarrawonga for the Victorian Speed Boat Club E.C. Griffith Cup, and this is where the season truly turned on its head. For the third year running, Yarrawonga delivered — and this time, it blew the championship wide open with the biggest leaderboard shake‑up of the season.
And now… it all comes down to this.
