It's not always climbing, paddling and technical skills training that I get up to, sometimes it is outdoor education and ropes courses as well.

Having spent around 25 years involved in the outdoor industry across several countries I am pretty familiar with quality systems, approaches and current expectations for ropes courses.

If you are looking for independent commissioning inspections, re-commissioning inspections, and / or technical advisory services to design quality up to date safety management systems, specific safety procedures, training and verification of competence processes then get in touch.
Ropes courses can be an incredible tool as part of outdoor educational and developmental programmes, making the most of them is key.

Do you work in Outdoor Education / Adventure activities and want to ensure the climbing / abseil qualification you have is current, registered and credible?

If so, then there are various options within the ACIA - Australian Climbing Instructors Association scheme that we can deliver or assist with, whether you already have an alternative qualification or wish to proceed through the full training and assessment process.

ACIA - "Alternative Pathways of entry" is a process that allows people who already hold an alternative qualification (or recognisable training) to apply to become a member of the ACIA and qualified through the ACIA taking into account their previous training, qualifications and experience.
More details on this can be found on the ACIA website - https://acia.com.au/resources/

We can support this process with guidance / advice, or if there are a group of people keen and appropriate for the "Direct Entry" option we can facilitate "Validation Workshop day" to cover the ACIA ITA reference requirements.
For more information on this just get in touch.

ACIA TRG (Top Rope Guide) Qualification - This is pretty much the ideal qualification for OE teachers and Instructors, it covers leading participants in Top Roped climbing and abseil activities.
More details can be found on the ACIA website - https://acia.com.au/courses/

Or there are all the other qualification Pathways and levels, Indoor Pathway, Sport Climbing Pathway, Trad climbing pathway, essentially whatever your involvement in guiding or instructing climbing / abseil activities the ACIA has a qualification and development pathway to suit.

Get in touch with us (or the ACIA) if you are keen or have any questions

Improvised Rescue for Climbers Course - Rescue skills are essential skills, knowing how to problem solve and having strategies to deal with issues is really important if you want to get the most out of your climbing adventures.
It was great having Sophie and Kris along for a couple of days experimenting with different approaches and applying skills to rescue themselves and their climbing partner.

If you wish to build your own skills then we have a wide range of courses that could likely assist, check out our website or get in touch for more information.

ACIA SPG Assessments - The ACIA - Australian Climbing Instructors Association SPG qualification is the most appropriate qualification for guiding the full spectrum of climbing activities within single pitch environments (including using trad placed protection, leading clients up single pitch trad routes, leading routes to set up systems, as well as all the standard top rope activities and teaching climbing movement skills).
Whilst it's one of the entry level qualifications it still involves a significant amount of skills, knowledge and experience to complete.

Attending the training requires pre-requisites of being an experienced, keen and competent trad climber, with further consolidation and experience required prior to assessment.
Presenting for assessment is an achievement as having your abilities formally assessed is always challenging.

Well done to those who attended, I look forward to seeing your further development in the future.

Personal climbing - As a professional climbing guide / instructor it is really important to get out and do plenty personal climbing as well as being out climbing for work.
It was great to be out with fellow ACIA - Australian Climbing Instructors Association climbing guide Greg, getting on some great Bluff Knoll routes.
A lot of fun had over a couple of big days.

If you are looking for a climbing guide or instructor to show you around the wonderful world of climbing then look for an ACIA - Australian Climbing Instructors Association qualified guide, these are people with a passion for climbing and a commitment to development and professional standards.

If you are keen for some guided climbing adventures to push your boundaries, or for some skills courses to give you the ability to up your own adventures then check out our website for our programmed courses or get in touch for a chat about what we offer.

Happy Climbing!

Safety Management Systems Audits - the end of February / start of March had me over East completing some SMS audits for a few multi activity adventure camps.
This is a very important process, though unfortunately often not undertaken by many organisations.
Having your SMS and their practical application independently reviewed / audited provides an additional layer of assurance and normally identifies a range of potential safety (or just quality delivery) improvements.

At the same time, I managed to squeeze in a quick trip to the Araps (which is where all the pictures are from), though as SA and West Vic were experiencing a very unusual wet/ stormy weather event it curtailed our activities, we did get to hide in a cave from the rain and squeeze in a climb of the classic tiptoe ridge though.
All adventures, even weather affected ones, are fun.

West Cape Howe experience - guided climbing - It is always great to be out at WCH, and yesterday was a great day for it.
Matthew and Junie had their first outdoor climbing experience here a few years ago, and were keen to get back out and experience the full value of the WCH atmosphere, sea cliffs certainly add an extra bit of challenge to the climbing.
It was great to be back out there with them again.

If you would like to ramp up your adventures then get in touch about our guided climbing or instructional courses, there is plenty adventure fun to be had.

Introduction to Outdoor Climbing Course -

A proper introduction to outdoor climbing is about much, much more than simply learning to tie a few knots and rig some basic systems.

It should be about a broad range of outdoor climbing experiences. Developing understanding, skills, knowledge, and practice with a range of equipment, concepts and systems. Having fun and leaving inspired to get out climbing.

It was great to have Zac and Trent on the course and developing the skills to let them get out and explore their local area more, there are many adventures to be had on the South Coast and plenty fun.

If you are keen to develop skills outdoors, then check out our broad range of courses on offer and get in touch.

South Coast Rock Climb/ Abseil experience -
Not to be deterred by some un-forecasted damp morning weather Lina and Fran got stuck into some fun Outdoor rock climbing.
Their first WA Outdoor climbing experience, and their first "mini" multi pitch experience, all during a day that got better and better with the sun making and appearance to warm things up.

It was great meeting you both, thanks for coming along and hopefully your feeling inspired for more climbing fun.
