⚽️ Thrills, Comebacks and Future Stars Shine at DDSC Round 3 ⚽️
Another fantastic Saturday of junior soccer lit up Rotary Park as the Deniliquin District Soccer Club continued its exciting 2026 season with thrilling matches, incredible teamwork and plenty of standout moments across every grade.
From spectacular sideline goals to nail-biting comebacks, Round 3 proved once again why DDSC is one of the region’s most family-friendly and exciting sporting communities.
👉 A Grade Delivers High-Intensity Action
A Grade spectators were treated to two thrilling contests, with A2 and A3 battling out a dramatic 3-all draw, while A1 overcame the Open Team 4-2 in a determined performance.
A3 produced one of the comebacks of the round, scoring twice in the final five minutes to sn**ch the draw in a game highlighted by exceptional passing and relentless pressure.
For A1, every player stepped up against the adults with courage and determination. George Marshell and Blaine Taylor worked tirelessly in defence to stop multiple attacking raids, while Ahmed Labib recovered brilliantly from a missed kick to set up Enzo Sztejman for a fantastic goal. Ramy Labib also produced one of the moments of the day with an incredible “fluke shot” off the side of his boot that found the back of the net.
A2 also had plenty to celebrate, with Isaac Tubb scoring an unbelievable sideline goal that had spectators buzzing. Jack Steenholt once again stood tall in goals, while Charlotte Gray continued to show growing confidence and improvement with increased ball time every week.
👉 B Grade Full of Heart and Determination
B Grade delivered some of the most entertaining matches of the morning.
B2 and B3 fought out a hard-fought 3-3 draw, while B6 claimed a 6-1 win over the club’s all-girls B1 side.
The B1 girls showed enormous determination after opening the scoring early and never gave up despite the result. Their forward line dominated much of the second half with repeated attacking opportunities, showing incredible spirit, teamwork and resilience that had supporters cheering loudly from the sidelines.
B2’s highlight belonged to Dontae Allen, who trapped the ball in defence before dribbling through three opposition players to score a sensational solo goal.
B3 showed grit and determination throughout, with coaches praising the boys for giving the game everything they had.
Meanwhile, B4 displayed one of the strongest team performances of the round. Luca Sztejman exploded out of the gates with three first-half goals, while Harvey Pyle and Gus Mcgrillen stood strong in goals all game. Pedro Ogodo added another goal and Levi Robson capped off the performance with two goals of his own as the team shared the ball beautifully and worked together across the field.
👉 C Grade Showcases Skill and Sportsmanship
C Grade continued to show enormous improvement across all teams, with close contests and strong sportsmanship on display.
C2 narrowly defeated C3 3-2 in an exciting clash, while C4 claimed a 5-1 win over C1.
Despite the result, C1’s “Red Fury” impressed coaches and supporters alike with improved positioning, tactics and teamwork. Campbell Shields scored a brilliant goal, while Jennifer Loughridge earned the Sports Person Award for outstanding play and teamwork. Even with a couple of minor injuries during the match, the team maintained a positive attitude and fought hard until the final whistle.
C2’s strong defensive line proved the difference in their tight win, continually shutting down attacking opportunities.
C3 had a memorable first half, with Leo Allit scoring the opener on his birthday celebration match. The Grey team stormed back in the second half thanks to excellent goals from Rhys Evola and Archie Rourke, while Jacob Horne produced one of the saves of the day with a spectacular stop while playing goalkeeper.
C4 coaches praised their side for a good clean game and strong focus on sportsmanship throughout the match.
👉 D Grade Continues to Improve
D Grade players showed incredible growth and teamwork as confidence builds week after week.
D2 defeated D3 5-0, while D4 recorded a strong 6-0 win over D1.
D1 battled hard despite having bare minimum numbers available, showing determination and resilience right until the final stages of the game.
D2’s defence was outstanding, with Riley R***r and Frankie Murphy instrumental in shutting down attacking opportunities. Gabriel Olabampe, Tom Callanan and Walter Murphy all found the goals to finish off a brilliant team performance.
D3 faced a tough challenge but showed enormous courage. Eddie Chartres and George Fellow both made spectacular saves in goals, while Gus Donaldson stood strong in defence throughout the game.
For D4, Riva Clarke led the way with strong goal kicking, while Hugh Buggee and Riva combined beautifully to move the ball forward. Elise Small, Adeline Rourke, Mateo Sztejman and Viany Ross were outstanding in defence as the team continued improving their spacing, passing and communication.
👉 Kangas & Joeys Keep Improving
The cooler weather certainly kept the Kangas and Joeys moving this week, with lots of running helping everyone stay warm.
Coaches were thrilled to see noticeable improvement in kicking strength, ball control and overall confidence, with players developing their skills more every single week while having plenty of fun along the way.
