Yesterday, the Honourable Rebecca White MP dropped in to brush up on her table tennis skills (and to let us know we were successful with a grant application for volunteer first aid training). What fun!

What fun yesterday at our regular Thursday 2-3pm U3A/seniors table tennis session. Table tennis is a great sport for body and brain health, especially if you've had lots of birthdays!

During our Thursday community table tennis session (3-5pm) we had a visit from Warren Vickery (Northern Tasmanian State Development Officer and multiple-level Australian champion). Warren delivered coaching to our up and coming juniors. Warren plans to come every other Thursday. What fun!

Yesterday, seven of our volunteers travelled to Launceston to support the Variety Kids Sports Day. Primary schoolers got a chance to try table tennis, boccia, and VR table tennis, along with badminton, wheelchair basketball, and soccer. Huge thanks to club members Mark, Rohan, Aaron, Josephine, Robin, Colin, and Chris. Thanks to Northern Tasmanian Table Tennis Association for letting us use their tables. And thanks to Jules and Mohammad from Variety the Children's Charity for organising the event. What fun!

Huge congratulations to Rohan Eastley, who just won a gold medal in the pairs event at the Boccia NSW State Titles. Well done Ro! Boccia in Deloraine is part of Deloraine Table Tennis League.

Tomorrow 2-3pm we start our Thursday afternoon U3A/seniors table tennis sessions. It will go for the next 10 weeks (corresponding with the school term). All seniors are most welcome. Equipment and coaching is provided. $2 to play. The positive effects of table tennis for your mind and body, especially as you age, are now well documented. See the video below. Come and give it a go. What fun!

The Hangout run by Meander Valley Council is back this week. Lots of great activities available, including table tennis 🏓🏓

The Hangout starts again this WEDSNESDAY, 6 May with after-school fun in Term 2.
FREE for 11–17-year-olds in Meander Valley. Cook, create, get active, or just hang out with friends.

Our Meander Valley community halls are beautiful spaces in stunning places. Mole Creek, Caveside, Dairy Plains, Weegena, Carrick, and Rosevale Community Halls now have a quality table tennis table and equipment. Thanks to club volunteers Josephine, Robin, and Marty for helping with the deliveries. Thanks to Meander Valley Council for the grant. Thanks to Highlands Haulage for transporting the tables from Melbourne. We are hoping that some of the community halls will put a team in this year's Winter Community Challenge (see poster below). And to the halls - we are more than happy to come and do some coaching so just reach out. What fun!
