There’s a reason matwork has remained at the heart of the Pilates method for over 100 years. 🤍💪🙏
While reformer Pilates is a beautiful tool for support, resistance, and feedback, Matwork asks something different of the body. Without the assistance of springs, we develop true strength, coordination, control, mobility, breath awareness, and connection from the inside out.
Matwork challenges the body to stabilise itself against gravity - building deep core support, postural awareness, balance, and full-body integration in a way that carries directly into everyday life. It’s also one of the most accessible and versatile ways to practice Pilates, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced mover.
At HEILEN Clinical Pilates Dee Why, our mat classes are intentionally small (maximum 6 people) so your instructor can actually see you, support you, and modify movements to suit your body and goals.
As a clinically-informed studio, we regularly work with clients managing injuries, pain, pregnancy, postural concerns, or those simply wanting a more mindful and intelligent movement experience. Our classes are designed to meet you where you are - from gentle beginner foundations right through to advanced classical-inspired movement.
And yes… our mats are incredibly spacious and comfortable too. 🤍
For Pilates students and teachers - HEILEN Director Cianne is also a Polestar Pilates Australia Educator, bringing a deeply educational and clinically-grounded approach into every class.
Matwork is not the “easier” version of Pilates.
It is the foundation. 🤍💪🙏
