Capital Football and Kanga Cup are proud to introduce the Pink Armband Initiative, reinforcing our commitment to creating a safe, respectful and supportive environment for young people involved in football.

Effective immediately, referees under the age of 18 will wear a pink armband while officiating matches across the Capital Football community, and at the Kanga Cup.

The armband serves as a clear and visible reminder to all participants, coaches, officials and spectators that the referee is a young person developing their skills and contributing to the game.

“Tweed United is fired up for Kanga Cup — not just for the football, but for the experience. The boys are ready to test themselves against teams from across Australia, build memories together, and represent the club with pride both on and off the pitch. From the competition and teamwork to the laughs, bonding and life lessons that come with tournament football, this is more than just a weekend away. It’s an opportunity to grow as players, teammates and young people while competing in one of the biggest junior football tournaments in the country.”

If you wish to have a player who is either not age eligible for your team's age group or who is currently registered to another club, you must complete a Player Dispensation Request form: https://form.jotform.com/260107366041851 (also located on p12 of the Info Guide).

All teams excluding those affiliated with Capital Football must complete a team sanction through your existing Affiliation or Member Federation. More information can be found on p13 of the Info Guide.

💭 What is your fondest memory from the Kanga Cup?
“Several of our players attended Kanga Cup 2025, where we were proud to reach the final. Travelling from Perth, WA, competing against strong teams, celebrating together, and playing football every day made the trip incredibly special. The girls also enjoyed experiencing the cold weather, with some seeing and playing in the snow for the first time. Away from football, the team had fun bonding through activities at Hijinx Hotel, Questacon, and the Australian War Memorial. The tournament created unforgettable memories, strengthened friendships, and gave the girls an experience they will always treasure.”

🔥 What are you most excited about for the 2026 Kanga Cup — on and off the pitch?
“We’re excited to see the team grow both on and off the pitch at Kanga Cup. On the field, the girls will challenge themselves against strong competition and gain valuable experience, building their skills, confidence, and resilience. Off the field, the tournament offers an amazing opportunity for team bonding, travel, and creating lasting memories together. Representing our club as a group in such a unique environment will be a special experience for everyone involved, and we’re looking forward to seeing the girls make the most of every moment throughout the tournament.”
