🏏💛 R U OK? DAY × JOSHY BOY’S BIRTHDAY! 🎂😂

Every club needs an R U OK? Ambassador… and at the Cru, we’ve got Josh Bennett.

Not necessarily because he asks “R U OK?” the most…

But because he’s probably the bloke WE ask the most. 😂

Because sometimes all it takes is one simple question:

“Josh… are you OK?”

…and suddenly DAVE MODE 😡 ➡️ JOSHY BOY 😁

That’s the whole point of today though. A simple conversation can genuinely change a mate’s day. You don’t need to have all the answers — Ask. Listen. Encourage action. Check in. 💛

And it just happens to be the perfect day to celebrate our very own ambassador too!

Cricket is more than runs, wickets and results. It’s about the people standing beside us — our teammates, our mates and our cricket family.

Today on R U OK? Day, we’re reminding everyone at the Cru and everyone in the community that sometimes the most important question you can ask has nothing to do with cricket:

“R U OK?”

You don’t need to be an expert. You just need to care enough to ask, listen and be there.

Ask R U OK? → Listen → Encourage action → Check in.

A quick conversation at training, after the game, in the changerooms or over a drink could mean more than you realise.

At the Cru, no one bats alone. ⚔️💚💛

Check in on your teammates. Check in on your mates. And keep checking in.

🏏 JUNIOR CRICKET IS BACK THIS SATURDAY!

Our junior pathway at Eastern Districts Junior Cricket Club (EDJCC) is holding its rebooked Come & Try Day this Saturday morning at Dayton!

EDJCC is the newly amalgamated junior club bringing together Bassendean Junior Cricket Club and Beechboro Lockridge Junior Cricket Club, giving local kids a strong pathway from their first game of cricket right through to senior cricket with the Crusaders.

If you’ve got kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, neighbours — or just know a youngster who might enjoy cricket — share this one around and get them down for a hit.

All abilities are welcome, from complete beginners through to experienced junior players.

Cricket Blast through to U17s.

Come down, meet the EDJCC crew and give cricket a crack.

Junior cricket starts here. The pathway continues with the Cru. 🏏

EDJCC has been created through the amalgamation of Bassendean Junior Cricket Club and Beechboro Lockridge Junior Cricket Club, bringing together decades of history, passionate volunteers and strong cricket communities into one club.

This isn't about leaving our roots behind—it's about building on them.

As our local community continues to grow, so does junior cricket. EDJCC will now provide opportunities for families right across Bassendean, Ashfield, Beechboro, Lockridge, Bennett Springs, Dayton, Brabham and the surrounding suburbs, with multiple local playing and training locations to make cricket more accessible than ever.

Whether your child is new to cricket through Cricket Blast or ready to play junior competition, EDJCC offers a welcoming, family-focused environment where kids can learn, make friends and simply enjoy the game.

Our vision is simple: keep local kids playing local cricket, give every child the opportunity to participate, and build a strong pathway into senior cricket for years to come.

Registrations for the 2026/27 season are now open. We'd love to welcome new and returning families as we begin this exciting new chapter together.

Last year, we welcomed West Coast Cricket Club to the Perth Swan Cricket Association… and somehow ended up becoming the best kind of club mates — plenty of cricket, plenty of banter, and absolutely no shortage of comments sections getting out of hand. 😂🏏

This year, it’s our turn to say a big HELLO & WELCOME to Western Knights and Champion Lakes Cricket Club! 👋⚔️

Welcome to the PSCA — get ready for a great season, some good cricket and, most importantly, plenty of fun along the way!

🏏⚔️ DAY ONE — DONE. ✅

A great turnout for our first training session back! Everyone got a bit of a bat, a bowl and a reminder of where a few muscles are located. 😂

Most importantly — nobody fainted, everyone walked back to their cars, and reports indicate everyone made it home safely. A successful pre-season session by all measurable standards. 👏😂

A few have clearly been secretly training over winter — the improvement has been noted. 👀
A few others have clearly had a very good winter… and yes, that has also been noted. 😂🍔

But it’s only Day One. There’s a long summer ahead of us.
