💭 PERFORMANCE MINDSET TIP 💭
It is so easy to get swept up in the hype leading to an event.
When you have put years of effort and training into preparation for an event, whether it be your local show, a national event or the Olympics, always remember;
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚, 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙫𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨.
Try to never attach your identity to the outcome. So many Olympic Gold Medalists talk about how they reach the top of the mountain, then the let down after the event is almost an anti- climax. It’s a feeling of ‘what now?’.
But if they think about the process, the discipline, the people they have met, the family they have had support them, the mental resilience, the incredible body that they’ve built and learnt to trust, the mindset, the routines, habits, outlook on life? 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗹𝗱. ⭐️
And yes winning is awesome. Wanting to win is not a bad thing. It is a very powerful driving force in achieving greatness. You need that competitive nature to achieve anything in this lifetime, but never forget who you have become in the process, and who has been with you along the way.
Winning is not your identity.
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗜 𝗮𝗺. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗱𝗼. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗺𝗲. And you just never know who you might be inspiring along the way.
Now go get after it …. 💪🏼😉🏆
