Unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot to report about on day 3 of Girls Gone Fishin for us - Skye hooked one early and after that, it was a lot of ficking, deep and unmeaningful conversations and even time for some yoga 😂

So saved the best for last, our pre-fish. We were pretty stoked that our first fish on the boat for 2024 was a metrey (caught by skip) to carry over from our last fish on the boat from 2023 which was a metrey! We’d set pretty high standards for ourselves and were pretty bloody excited. We cruised the river stopping at a few different spots and jagging some pretty good fish along the way, intending to save them for when it counted. It’s safe to say, we got better fish and would’ve scored more points in that 4-hour pre-fish than the rest of the competition - but hey that’s just fishing and it sure beats working! ❤️ Think we placed somewhere in the 20s out of 50 teams, but as always, we had bloody great time!

There was lots of swearing on Day two of GGF, LOTS! We committed to our plan and embraced the game of Hide and Creek. We were in the water early but a rookie mistake had us rushing back to the boat ramp for the forgotten lure bag!
We hit our spot to the sweet sound of boofing all around us, but just before lines-in at 7 it went silent 😂Throughout the day, we battled it out, with Skye landing an early catch. If the creek had to have a name it would be Angry Fish Creek – those fish were on a rampage! They put up a wild fight, spitting hooks, trebles and stingers left, right and centre! We lost A Lot of good fish. A last-minute catch in the final 10mins of the day lifted our spirits as we headed back, determined to reclaim our title as dress-up champions!

Day 1 of GGF didn't go as planned for the birdies, but we adapted! Despite a promising pre-fish, overnight rain shifted our strategy.
Our original spots from the day before didn't deliver big, but we managed to score a few points on the board in some of our usual spots. By afternoon, it was all a game of hide and creek, with everyone fighting to secure a good creek position. We found a spot with plenty of healthy looking fish on the live scope and committed getting some late points on the board to save the day! ❤️🎣

Another year of Girls Gone Fishin over. We are home safe with sore bodies and full hearts!

The fishing was tough this year, but we still had a blast! We landed some impressive fish before the competition even began, Skip even having some fun on the pre-fish and landing a metery!
We fished HARD over the three days, and all got points on the board, but the fish fought hard too, and we lost some good ones. That’s just fishing! A big congratulations to ‘Fishing for Compliments' for taking out the big win this year and to all the other teams out there having a crack!

We didn’t come home empty-handed, taking out the best dressed on the all-important Circus-themed dress-up night with our rendition of ‘The Greatest Showman’! 🎩⭐️😂

Huge thanks to Sammie Gill, the founder of GGF, who is passing on the baton after 9 epic years! Thanks for all the memories and friendships made over the years, we look forward to seeing you on the water next year!
