The North Australian Motor Sports Club (NAMSC) runs circuit racing, hot laps (lapsprint) and motorkhana events at Darwin's Hidden Valley motor racing circuit. One of the oldest motorsport clubs in the NT, NAMSC started as a rally club and often used the then bushland area at Hidden Valley for some of its events. This lead to the club expanding circuit racing by establishing the Hidden Valley circu
it, which has now evolved to suit our club's events as well as those of drifting and motorbike circuit racing. The circuit hosts an annual round of the V8 Supercars championship as well as other national and international events. The greater Hidden Valley facilities include a dragstrip, speedway, mud racing and karting tracks, plus amenities and function spaces. Today NAMSC's circuit racing activities include Improved Production, HQ Holden, Commodore Cup, and Circuit Excel. The club also makes motorsport accessible through hot laps (lapsprint) and motorkhana. At most circuit events through the year, drivers can run their own vehicle against the clock using the same circuit as the professionals. Around once per month, motorkhana events are held where drivers as young as twelve (12) attempt short courses laid out with markers in the pit carpark and skidpan, racing against the clock to complete tight maneouvres and hone technical driving skills.
