Yesterday was a reminder of just how powerful rugby league can be, and how the love for the Game can bring us together far and wide
Watching the Gove United Buffs and Elcho Island Dolphins take the field together wasn’t just about football or the final score. It was about bringing our communities together, giving our young boys an opportunity to represent where they come from and creating memories that will stay with them for years to come.
A very special thank you to Callan and Henry for bringing the boys over from Elcho Island. The time, effort and commitment it takes to organise and travel with a team doesn’t go unnoticed. Having the Dolphins here made the day what it was, and we’re incredibly grateful you made the journey.
To all the young Buffs and Dolphins who played — you should be proud. You competed hard, showed respect for one another and represented your families and communities with pride.
These are the experiences we want to continue creating for our kids. Opportunities to play, travel, meet new people, build friendships and learn that rugby league can bring people together no matter where they come from.
Hopefully yesterday was the start of many more games between the Buffs and Dolphins and an even stronger connection between our communities.
Thank you to every parent, coach, volunteer, supporter and person behind the scenes who helped make it happen.
