The Darwin Brothers have claimed the 2026 Eddie Wosomo Memorial Shield, producing a strong performance against South Darwin in one of the most significant fixtures on the NRL NT calendar.
More than just competition points were on the line, with both clubs once again coming together to honour the memory and legacy of Eddie Wosomo, a respected member of the rugby league community whose contribution to the game continues to be remembered each year through this special memorial match.
The annual Eddie Wosomo Memorial Shield serves as a celebration of community, culture and the enduring spirit of rugby league in the Northern Territory, bringing players, families and supporters together in recognition of his legacy.

🏉 DABSCO PREMIERSHIP | ROUND 8 FULL TIME 🏉

The Litchfield Bears have held off a spirited late charge from the Northern Sharks to secure a hard-earned victory in an entertaining Round 8 clash at TRL Stadium.

The Bears built an early advantage and looked in control for much of the contest, however the Sharks refused to go away, mounting a strong second-half comeback that kept supporters on the edge of their seats right through to the final whistle.

Despite the Sharks' late surge, the Bears showed composure in the closing stages to secure the two competition points and continue their push up the DABSCO Premiership ladder.

A great contest between two committed sides, with plenty of positives to take from the performance of both teams.

The Nightcliff Dragons have produced a powerful attacking display in Round 8, running in plenty of points to secure an impressive victory over the Palmerston Raiders at TRL Stadium.

The Dragons controlled the contest from the outset, combining strong carries through the middle with clinical finishing out wide to maintain their place among the competition frontrunners.

Credit to the Raiders who battled hard throughout the afternoon, but the Dragons proved too strong on home turf.

Congratulations to both teams on a hard-fought contest as the race towards finals football continues.

Round 8 of the Gatley Shield delivered another afternoon of exciting junior representative football, with strong performances across all three matches.

🔥 Palmerston Raiders recorded an impressive victory over the Nightcliff Dragons.

🔥 Litchfield Bears edged out the Northern Sharks in a thrilling contest that went right down to the wire.

🔥 Darwin Brothers continued their outstanding season with a dominant performance against the South Darwin Rabbitohs.

Congratulations to all players, coaches, officials and volunteers who contributed to another great day of junior rugby league at TRL Stadium.

The race for finals positions is heating up as the Gatley Shield season enters the business end of the competition.

🏆 PHYSIO NORTH NT UNDER 17 GIRLS PLAYER OF THE ROUND 🏆

Congratulations to Athanasia Makrylos (Litchfield Bears) on being named the Physio North NT Under 17 Girls Player of the Round.

Athanasia delivered an outstanding performance in Round 8, showcasing determination, skill and leadership throughout the day. Her efforts played a key role for the Bears and earned recognition as this week's standout player.

A huge thank you to Physio North for supporting our junior players and helping recognise excellence across the Darwin Junior Rugby League competition.

This weekend is a home game for Brothers at TRL stadium with our under 13 starting at 9 am and finishing with A Grade at 6:10 pm.

This weekend will be the playing of the Eddie Wosomo memorial shield between the two A Grade sides Brothers and Souths.

 Gatley B Grade at 2pm
Tru-Flow service’s premiership Women at 3.15pm.
Dabsco Premiership Men’s at 6.10pm.

We see the return of Joshua Johnson, Dallas Caulton and Kyro Ahmat into the Men’s Premiership side. We also welcome back Aaron Pollard who will be playing in this very special game.

Let’s bring down the blue and white army and support our sides all day and especially on this very special occasion for the Eddie Wosomo memorial shield.
