AKC Round 1️⃣ Wrap Up

What a ripper weekend Jordy had at the first round of the Australian Kart Championship, held at Todd Road in Melbourne.

His first year in KA3 Junior category competing against 75 of the best drivers in the country!

Qualifying P9
Heat 1 - 1st
Heat 2 - 1st 🟣fastest lap time
Heat 3 - 4th 🟣fastest lap time
Heat 4 - 2nd

Starting the final off the front row was such an amazing achievement for him!
He crossed the line P5 in the Final!

Competition Karting is on again for round 5, this Sunday, racing from 9am. Canteen open and Spectators welcome, come down and watch the young and young at heart battle it out on the track. 🏎🏁

We competed in the Kingston Cup at Oakleigh Kart Club in Melbourne this weekend.

The coldest conditions we’ve ever raced in 🥶 definitely not what we’re used to back in Darwin.

Two practice sessions before qualifying where we placed p7.
The next 3 heats weren’t our best with Dad scratching his head trying to figure out what was wrong with our setup 🛠️

Found the problem minutes before the final 💡

☔️The track was wet but we chose to stay on slicks. We spun on lap one after some contact going from 10th to last 😭
Jordy drove it back through the field to finish 7th, setting multiple fastest laps.
🟣Quickest on track by half a second 💪🟣
Pretty happy with how the weekend went considering 😂 onwards and upwards from here!

🤞 hopefully our mechanic can get it together for the next one 🥸

🏁Rd 2 AKC @ Pukapunyal VIC🏁

66 Cadet 12 entries only 40 drivers making the final.

This was one of those race meets that makes or breaks you!🥊

Practice 1 - we only did 3 laps before it was red flagged.
Practice 2 - 6th in group 2
Practice 3 - 21st (upper group)
Practice 4 - 29th

Qualifying in the upper group - 👎🏻NO TIME😭
A mechanical issue spat our chain.

Devastated was an understatement with no qualifying time we had to start the first 3 heats from the back.

Heat 1 - p31 > 15th
Heat 2 - p31 > 17th
Heat 3 - p32 > DNF
Heat 4 - p20 > 14th only 4 laps of racing before the race was red flagged and called due to an accident. We felt we had the pace to push further up.

Even with all our setbacks we achieved our goal of making the final.

🏎️Final - p36 - 18th 🏎️

Jordy held his head high and raced hard. He didn’t let the set backs get him down and he was so proud of his accomplishments after each race. We were honoured to receive a Good Sport award from the Karting Australia officials. Thank you so much KA this was the highlight of our weekend!

I’ll be racing at my home track this weekend!

Next stop was Coffs Harbour for their grand opening meet. Brand new surface and layout 🔥 Our first ever time on this track. It didn’t take long for Jordy to get comfortable on the track.

Qualified P5
H1 - 1st
H2 - 3rd
H3 - 1st (fastest on track🟣)
Final - DNF

Overall we finished 6th

An unfortunate mechanical issue in the final put us out of the race. But we left with some of our best ever interstate results and look forward to the AKC round being held here later in the year!

We competed at Round 3 of IKC’s club round🏁

Random grid starts. We struggled getting the kart to work and our driver couldn’t find many apexes 🤷‍♂️ but always a great learning experience!

H1/ p35 > 17th
H2/ p4 > 10th
H3/ p12 > 6th
Final/ p8 > 13th

We’ve been slack with our race result updates. So we’ll post them up over the next week or so.

Round 2 in March at DKA! Our first race meeting at our home track for the year. Random grid. We used this meet to trial many different setups.
H1 - 3rd
H2 - 2nd
H3 - 2nd
Final - 1st 🥇 and Congratulations to my little brother on his 3rd place.
