On Sunday 30th August, Seniors Of Excellence NT Inc will be presenting 24 Awards as the closing major event in the NT Seniors Month calendar. 24 Nominees will gather with their families, friends and others at Darwin's Trailer Boat Club in Fannie Bay to receive their Awards, presented by The Honourable Ms Sally Thomas AC AM.
The Presentation of Awards commences at 3pm.
Since the first Awards were presented in 2014, 115 wonderful Northern Territorian Seniors will have been acknowledged and celebrated for their significant voluntary contributions to assist the aged, the sick, disabled and disadvantaged Territorians within their respective cities, towns and communities.
In the seven years this program has been conducted, Seniors Of Excellence at the completion of these Awards, will have acknowledged 115 amazing Senior Citizens.
Unlike many other Award events, Seniors Of Excellence NT Inc, does not have a winner. All Nominations that meet the criteria of being 65+ years of age and having significantly contributed voluntarily to Charities, Hospitals, Hospices, Aged Care Homes, Sporting Clubs, Community Service organisations, in fact anywhere there is a demand for help.
Territorians like others around Australia, care about their fellow citizens who need help. They get stuck in without question and get the job done and have been doing so for many years.
Seniors Of Excellence NT Inc was formed by Darwin man, Mike Foley OAM who has an extensive record of social assistance and saw the need to acknowledge fellow seniors for the wonderful work they do.
"There is something good about the feeling one gets when he/she is helping those worse off than ourselves," he says.
Members of the public are welcome to attend.
