Over the past 10 weeks, I’ve had the privilege of helping coach our region’s Little League team. Working with 15 U12 boys, we focused on improving their skills—from swings to fielding—and there was clear growth across the group.
We set a goal of finishing in the top two, and we fell short. There are honest, humbling lessons to take from that—around preparation, consistency, ex*****on, mindset, and sportsmanship.
That said, the boys showed strong effort, played some very good baseball, and should be proud of their progress.
I enjoy giving back to the next generation and appreciated the opportunity to be part of this group. We’ll take the lessons on board and come back better next year. 💪⚾

FIH statement ahead of World Cup Qualifiers:

As the global hockey community is about to celebrate sporting excellence and excitement on the occasion of the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers starting tomorrow in Santiago (Chile) and Ismailia (Egypt), and soon in Hyderabad, Telangana (India), the International Hockey Federation (FIH) would like to reiterate that the utmost priority will be the safety and well-being of all involved in these events, first and foremost the athletes.

This is particularly important as the world is experiencing renewed geopolitical tensions whilst some teams are on the way to their Qualifier venue.

FIH is monitoring the situation very closely.

FIH President Tayyab Ikram said: “The safety of the athletes, the Officials and everyone involved in these events is the first priority for us. In this regard, we are in touch with all relevant stakeholders.”

FIH is looking forward to great events where sport shall once again be a catalyst for uniting people.

Being at an international tournament in our own country is something very cool for me. We don’t get many chances to umpire games of this standard in Australia.
But something that really makes this work special is meeting young umpires who look up to us.
I had the please of meeting this young fella Ben Bouwer. He played for NT in the under 16 national but lives in Melbourne and plays for club Mentone.
Ben flew up to Darwin to ball boy the first game of the series. From our chat last night Ben has some serious passion towards umpiring. And is so nice to see.

Thanks for coming and meeting me and the Oceania crew Ben and I can’t wait to see you umpiring a game in the near future.
Maybe soon we can be on the same field together!

Suprised Rhiley with umpiring together on Saturday. He had no clue until I walked on to the feild. So nice to be welcomed with open arms to another hockey association. Thanks Redlands hockey for organising an awesome day

Tournament prep in full swing now. Looking forward to getting back out on the feild with International hockey in Darwin for oceania seied between Australia and New Zealand then off to China for China national games.
