Back pain can be incredibly frustrating, especially when it feels like every movement might make it worse.

But the back is actually very adaptable. After the initial flare settles, research shows that gradually reintroducing movement and strength work is one of the best ways to recover.

Your spine and surrounding muscles respond to load. When we slowly build strength through movements like hinging, lifting and carrying, the body learns these movements are safe again. Over time this helps reduce sensitivity and builds a stronger, more resilient back.

Avoiding movement completely can actually make things worse long term, because the body loses its tolerance to load.

The key is progressive, controlled exercise — not doing nothing, and not doing too much too soon.

If you’re dealing with back pain and unsure what exercises are safe, I’d love to help. Through personal training we can rebuild strength and confidence in your movement step by step.

💪 Age doesn’t decide your limits — your habits do.

This legend here is in her 70s and casually knocking out 16kg weighted step-ups.

🌟 A quick reminder for anyone training through aches or injuries… 🌟

Over the last few months, I’ve had several clients come in with pain — sore backs, tight hips, knees that “just don’t feel right.” And you know what they all have in common?

They’re now moving better, feeling stronger, and many have had their pain significantly reduce or disappear completely.

Often the pain will not get better on its own!

Here’s the thing:
We shouldn’t wait for pain to magically go away before we start moving.
Pain is often a sign that something in your body needs:
