Born and raised in Switzerland, the 🇹🇳 & 🇨🇭 dual citizen started handball at HSC Suhr Aarau and later also played for Celtics Ehrendingen and TVD Handball. Soon enough, he was called up for Equipes de Tunisie Handball, paving the way for an exciting international career.

On the left wing, we have another Frenchie... Thomas Litaise arrived in Australia in 2022 to continue his studies. Four years later, he has become a key part of the Sydney Uni HC family, winning three Australian national titles along the way.

A lightning-fast left wing with plenty of grit, Thomas makes an impact every time he steps on court. Just as importantly, he is a driving force behind the scenes, contributing to the culture and success of the club.

Thomas learned his handball in France with Courcelles Chaussy Handball Bouzonville Handball and AC Douai Handball Officiel before bringing his talent and passion all the way to Sydney. Today he balances life as a data analyst with competing at the highest level of Australian handball.

It's time to introduce one of our Australian young guns in this year's squad for the Club World Championships - 21yo back player Otto Koehler.

Born in Australia, Otto spent most of his youth in Germany where he started handball at HSG Neckartal Oberndorf-Sulz. He moved back to Australia to pursue his studies in Aviation Management and Aeronautics,. Upon joining University of Queensland Handball Club he quickly caught the eye of national team coaches with his strong one-on-one skills and team play, and consequently being selected to represent Handball Australia in the Asian Championships.

Now, Otto is keen to take it up a notch again, joining Sydney Uni 🦁 to face the best clubs in the world in Egypt!

Next up is Ali Mehdizadeh, our lost son who is returning to Sydney Uni after previously representing us at two Super Globe tournaments.

Born and raised in Iran, the powerful right back used his appearances with Sydney Uni on the world stage in 2016 and 2019 as a springboard for a handball career in Poland, representing KSZO SMS Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski MKS Padwa Zamość Zepter KPR Legionowo Unia Tarnów and last Energa Gwardia Koszalin.

Now, the 29yo personal trainer is returning to the fold, and will once again crack open defensive lines with his lethal shot, and keep the team on track with his signature positive attitude which he says was handed down to him from his father.

The French have a long history at our club, and Malo Molenat is continuing the tradition of excellent right wings from 'la grande nation'!

He learned his handball trade at HB Sainte-Luce and Atlantique Rezé Handball and was brought to our shores in 2025 for work. Upon arrival he quickly established himself at the club as a sharp weapon on the flank and deadly counter attacker. At the Oceania Club Championships in May, he was one of Sydney's leading goal scorers, and equally important, a driving force to bring the team together off the court - not least with his talent for barbering!

Not long now until Sydney Uni will take on Veszprém Handball Club at the IHF Club World Championships in Egypt. Time to start introducing our team!

Since arriving in Sydney from Brazil back in 2018, Icaro Gregorio has grown into one of the most recognisable faces in Aussie handball. He’s a 5x national champion, a national team regular, and a player whose passion is as big as his game.

These days, Icaro is based on the Sunshine Coast and involved in building the handball youth program there, as well as playing for Gold Coast Handball Club. For the handball world stage he’s suiting back up in blue and gold though, bringing his trademark speed, creativity, and relentless drive back to the club where it all started for him in Australia.
