RANSA The Royal Australian Naval Sailing Association exists to encourage sailing within the Navy, Services, Veterans and local non Service keel boat sailors.

Our heritage listed boat shed at Rushcutters Bay welcomes guests and new members. RANSA membership is open to all serving and retired Naval personnel, and Service membership is open to serving and retired Army and Air Force personnel. A category of membership for non-service personnel is also available. Facilities

Members may use the premises, on arrangement, for private functions, including the

Rushcutters Room which seats sixty and the new undercover area. A slipway is available to members, rated to 4 tonnes, at a nominal fee. Moorings are available at very competitive rates. Their numbers are limited however and, dependant on availability, preference is given to current serving members in the RAN. Those who do not own their own boat and wish to sail are encouraged to come down the club on race days and usually there will be a place on a members boat. RANSA runs primarily on a volunteer basis. Members are asked to do occasional bar duties and provide assistance where possible. This proves to be a great way to get to know members!

Congratulations - Navy One wins Oggin Cup RSHYR 2025

RANSA and RAN yacht Navy One was the victor in the Oggin Cup, awarded to the first Services boat on handicap in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
There were five entries in the cup this year
Navy One (Navy - Nick Greenhill and Grace Corboy-Stevens)
Rising Sun (Army - Kevin O'Rourke)
Happy Wanderer (SAS - Dan Cannon)
Titoki (Navy - Tim Binns & Frances Beaumont)
Roaring Forty (RAAF - Kevin Le Poidevin & Brian Pattinson)

The margin between first and second on corrected time was only 12 minutes between Navy and Rising Sun. Really close after over 4 days, in much of the time very tough sailing conditions. Both boats First 40s so evenly matched. Hopefully this bodes well for more keelboat competition between the services.

Congratulations all!
