Hi Lions Fans! 🦁🦁

Thank you to Nathan Yates for his hard work and effort over the last two years as Senior Club coach. thanks for your leadership, the club has developed a fighting sprit and determination to winning games across all grades. This has shown itself on the field in particular with Yater guiding the club to a 2nd XI premiership and a grand final appearance for the 3rd XI in 2024/25. As well as a semi final for the 1st XI in 2025/26 which went down to the wire.

Yater will still be a member of the Lions family continuing as a senior player, 1st XI Captain and mentor to the playing group. The club is lucky to have a player of his calibre and experience within the playing group.

Big congratulations to Luke Woods and the U13 Blue team who are now Premiers! After winning their Grand Final this evening.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first the U13 Blues ended their innings all out for 112. Standout performances with the bat from Lachlan Stirrat, Axel Weir and Henry McRae putting on hard earned runs under pressure. The standout performance with the Bat was John Verma who ended up not out putting a vital 23 runs on the board.

With a tricky total to defend the boys set about their bowling innings, eventually bowling Melton Centrals out for 50 runs taking the flag with a 62 run victory.

What a way to finish the season and we are very proud of the effort the U13 Blues have put into their season.

Congratulations to former Darley Lion Jack Watkins who makes his AFL debut for Port Adelaide against the Kangaroos at Marvel Stadium today.

Jack was a brilliant keeper - batsman for the Lions and his work up at the stumps to spinners was elite. He was also a fantastic batsman who always seemed to have time (a la Mark Waugh) and his back foot cover drive was something to behold.

Jack's Mum Tam Ara was a pretty handy scorer also and was always at the ground to support Jack & offer assistance. Tammy has always been a proud Darley Lion & Darley Devil ! Enjoy today Tammy !

Jack is the 3rd former Lion to play AFL Football (behind Zak Butters & Aaron Cadman) and we are very proud of Watto.
