The DEC would like to thank Joel Johansen for completing the service locations in preparation for our two sun shelters.
Joel did this for us in honour of his father-in-law, Ian Blakiston.
Our heartfelt appreciation to Joel and Lowana.
Joel does local work so please keep him in mind if you need a concrete scanner or service locator.

A QR code is available at the clubrooms, near the canteen door, for easy access to the platform.

Vale
Ian Blakiston
It is with sadness we acknowledge the passing of Ian Blakiston on the 25th March 2026.

It was Ian’s devotion to his girls which saw him land the role of DEC president at a time when the Equestrian Centre was in its infancy. Ian’s sense of community, integrity and people skills were paramount to the success of establishing the Equestrian Centre- from helping write the constitution, building yards and presiding over the opening ceremony.
Ian also had a tenure as Dardanup Horse & Ponyclub President guiding it through a strong period of growth. First and foremost, he was there for his girls as their number one cheer squad, support crew and hitching rail. Although originally knowing little about horses, he seemed to obtain them at a rate of knots.

Blacky was the master of the one liners, bringing humour and goodwill to any situation.
Our membership extends its heartfelt condolences to his wife Michelle, daughters Merinda, Aimee and Lowana, and their families.
He will be remembered fondly by us all.

Thankyou Darline Morgan for writing this tribute to our beloved Ian

Thankyou to Kristen DeBrito, Ava DeBrito, Darline Morgan and Cathy Miller for giving two hours of your time this morning to help clean and disinfect the kitchen and tidy it up😊
Unfortunately we had some mice enter the building.
We have set traps and put away as much as we could in plastic boxes.

******On another note so much “stuff”
finds its way to the DEC. This congests the premises and makes cleaning onerous.

Please do not bring your excess “stuff” down the our facility thinking you are doing us a favour.
You may not be able to throw this “stuff” out and think we need it but we probably don’t.
We have had to discard so much crockery that we don’t want or use.
Feel free to email [email protected] or message through Facebook if you think we may be able to use it before you bring it down.
Thankyou

Another well overdue update for our centre.

Anyone looking for electrical work to be done give them a call.
Highly recommend this company!

Our rabbit eradication man has this afternoon started the preparation for the Calicivirus release.

For the next few weeks, if anyone using the grounds comes across piles of oats on the ground or in dishes please don’t disturb them. This will be mainly around the sea containers and on the XC course.
All going well, the virus-treated oats will be put out on the 30th march. Treated oats remain viable for around 24hrs. From the information our eradication man has received the virus is only harmful to the rabbits.

We need to get rid of the rabbits as they are causing considerable damage so please be aware and considerate of the process.
Thankyou
