Greater Dandenong Warriors Hockey Club

Club history
The Dandenong Hockey Club was established in 1956 with the founding member being Bill Toon OAM.

Springvale Noble Park Hockey Club was established in 1971 with the founding member being Keith McConchie, Graham Booth, Ian Whatley. The Greater Dandenong Warriors Hockey Club was formed in 2007 when these two clubs amalgamated to form a singular identity within the City of Greater Dandenong. Today our Club has five junior teams, 2 womens teams, four mens teams and four masters teams. We are a family club who are friendly, competitive and all inclusive. If you are looking for a new Hockey Club or are interested in playing Hockey we would love to hear from you.

🏆 HOCKEY VICTORIA AWARDS NIGHT 🏆

The Hockey Victoria Awards Night was held on Friday at Marvel Stadium, and it was fantastic to see 7 Warriors recognised in the VL2 Teams of the Year!

It’s fantastic to see so many Warriors recognised for their individual performances after what was an incredible 2026 season for the club.

The weekend saw the conclusion of a fantastic 2026 season for the club, with four of our teams competing in Grand Finals!

The weekend started on Saturday at the SNHC, with our Women’s VL2R side unfortunately going down 5–0 to a strong La Trobe University side. However, it was a fantastic effort from all the girls to make it this far!

We then headed to Moorabbin on Saturday evening, where our Metro 2 side put on a clinic, winning the premiership by an incredible 10–0!

Dave Shelton was on fire, snagging a staggering four goals, while captain Terry Gill completed a hat-trick! 🏆

Sunday saw our Women’s VL2 take on a strong Werribee side, who got on top early in what was a tough contest. However, the girls came out firing in the “premiership quarter”, piling on four goals in the third period to run away with a 6–2 victory and securing promotion to VL1! 🏆

Our Men’s VL2 then took on Brunswick in an incredibly even contest, with the two teams unable to be separated throughout the game. Unfortunately, Brunswick took the chocolates in the shootout.

It was still a fantastic season for the boys, finishing as minor premiers and completing back-to-back promotions!

That marks the end of a fantastic 2026 season for the Warriors.

A huge thank you to everyone for all their hard work, contributions and support throughout the season, and especially to everyone who came out and supported our teams over the weekend.

Bring on 2027! 🏑

It was a massive opening week of finals for the Warriors!

🏑 Men’s VL2 — 8–4 win over Bayside Powerhouse
🏑 Men’s VL2R — 1–0 win over Caroline Springs
💔 Men’s Pennant E — narrowly defeated by KBH in a tense penalty shootout
🏑 Men’s Metro 2 — 4–2 win over Collegians
🏑 Women’s VL2 — 4–1 win over top-of-the-ladder Knox
🏑 Women’s VL2R — 2–0 win over Knox
🏑 Masters 40B — 3–1 win over Mentone
💙 Under 14s — season comes to an end after a 2–0 loss to Southern United. A huge effort from the team all season!

With 7 teams still in the mix, we look forward to another massive week of finals hockey with plenty of support from the sidelines!

It’s set to be a huge weekend at the Greater Dandenong Warriors Hockey Club

Ryan Ciriello Memorial Day

Join us on Saturday at JC Mills Reserve as we honour and celebrate the life of Ryan Ciriello. Our Men’s VL2 side will take on Knox Hockey Club, another club Ryan represented, in what promises to be a special afternoon of hockey and remembrance.

memorial proceedings will follow the match, including speeches and the presentation of the Ryan Ciriello Memorial Medal.

Trivia Night

After the memorial day concludes, we’ll head to the Hallam Scout Hall (23–47 Gunns Road, Hallam) for our Trivia Night, kicking off from 7:00pm.

🎟️ Tickets are available now – be sure to secure yours online before the night.

We encourage everyone to join us and help make this a memorable day as our hockey community comes together to celebrate Ryan’s life.

A service to celebrate Ryan’s life will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Upper Coomera Wednesday 27th May at 10am.

All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and honour his memory. Please wear something bright and colourful.

Vale Ryan Ciriello

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of long-time club member Ryan Ciriello after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Ryan began his hockey journey with us as a junior at SNP and became a much-loved member of our club community for more than 20 years. He was also a much loved person in the wider hockey community through his involvement coaching countless juniors with the Ciriello Coaching Academy.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Ryan’s wife Stefanie, daughters Annabelle and Alyssa, parents Lou and Suzie, siblings Chris and Stacey, as well as all of Ryan’s close friends and teammates at the club.

Rest in Peace, Ryan.
