Use it or Lose it
Why do I move?
For my heart health (gotta look after the organ that keeps me moving around).
For my blood pressure (I have really low blood pressure and it can make me feel drained (eg no energy), so moving helps me to feel energised).
For my bones (as we age and, starting in our late 30's, it's super important to include strength training to keep our bones healthy and strong, especially as we go through perimenopause and menopause). Bone strength decreases with age (think osteoporosis, osteopenia etc).
For my mental health (no movement for me = built up anxious energy - I need movement so I feel better, to de-stress and it lifts my mood). Believe me... if I haven't taken time out for myself for movement over a 7 day period, hello short fuse, no patience, crankiness, no focus, no joyfulness, no gratitude... the total opposite to who I really am!
For my posture (I don't want to be stooped over, unable to lift my arms up, unable to stand up straight) - after many, many years sitting in a desk job I'm more mindful now of my posture and the importance of core strength to help me maintain good posture.
For me! I love movement! My body craves it! We weren't designed to be sedentary (although all of our modern day conveniences are making this happen - but only if you choose to make it so). Think back... our ancestors were always on the go. Heck, they probably only sat down at meal times.
If you've read this far, thank you. I truly hope this post has got you thinking about movement and about the quality of life you'd like to have as the years go by.
If you want to take action, please reach out today and let's get you moving and looking after the most important machine you have the privilege of owning!
