They say a great game of croquet is won in the details. The right angle, the precise grip, the friendly exchange of strategic tips before the shot. It’s about skill, but it’s always about the connection.

We’re honing our focus and getting ready for the big day. Our Friendship Day (August 20, 2026) is fast approaching! It’s the perfect time to perfect your friendly approach shot.

✅ Details are in our Events Tab—click 'Going' to stay in the loop!

🪵 Timber vs. ⚙️ Aluminium: The Story Behind Our Gear!

If you’ve played on our lawns, you’ve probably lined up a shot using one of our old wooden mallets or one of these two distinctive mallets. But did you know they have a special story?

These mallets were selected as part of a fantastic Croquet Queensland (CAQ) grant aimed at welcoming more women into our wonderful sport! 🌟

When we chose them, we picked one traditional and one modern design to give our new players the chance to feel the difference. Here’s a quick look at the science behind the two styles:

🪵 The Timber Mallet: Heart & Heritage

* The Design: Featuring a beautiful wooden head with a classic green accent stripe.
* The Feel: Timber offers a natural, shock-absorbing feel that gives softer, more intuitive feedback when you strike the ball.
* Best For: Players who rely heavily on "touch" and feel for delicate roquets and appreciate traditional craftsmanship.

⚙️ The Aluminium Mallet: Modern Precision

* The Design: The striking, cut-out metal head with bright yellow end caps.
* The Weighting: Metal can be shaped precisely, with weight placed toward the edges of the mallet head. This helps resist twisting and keeps shots straighter, even if your swing is slightly off.
* Best For: Players looking for absolute consistency, excellent power, and a durable design.

Every Player is Different!

Whether you prefer the natural swing of the timber or the crisp alignment of the aluminium, both of these grant-funded mallets are here to help you master the lawns.

💬 We’d love to know: If you've used these, which one feels more natural in your hands? Are you Team Timber or Team Aluminium? Let us know in the comments! 👇
