Thank you...many of you are aware of the passing of Toa matriarch, Iris Tepania, last week.
Her loss brings deep sadness for her family (whānau), the Toa club, and many within our association. The impact reached across the grounds. Many stood beside Iris last Saturday, on the fields, around the diamonds, and within the community she cared for so deeply.
We wish to thank everyone for the kindness and support shown throughout the week and on Saturday. The day carried great emotion for myself, my team, Toa, members of the management committee, volunteers, and all who knew Iris. The messages, quiet support, and presence from clubs and members meant a great deal. Your actions showed the respect and care our community holds for one another and reflected the lasting influence Iris had on so many people.
Events such as this affect people in different ways. Support is available for any member who feels the need to speak with someone. Softball Queensland offers free counselling services through White Cloud Tele-Mental Health Service. This service provides professional mental health support through phone or video and remains available for members and their family free of charge.
On behalf of Iris’s family (whānau), anyone who wishes to offer a koha is welcome to do so through the account below. It does not need to be a grand gesture — this is simply for those who wish to show their love and support for the family (whānau) during this difficult time. You can also contribute at the fields this weekend at the canteen and bar.
