The Crystal Brook Golf Club, in conjunction with the Northern Districts Golf Association - SA , was proud to once again host the Statewide Women’s Sandgreens on 18 & 19 August.
We were treated to near-perfect sunny weather and great course conditions, with 66 women travelling from Kangaroo Island, Victoria, Yorke Peninsula, Eyre Peninsula, the Riverland, South East and across the Northern Districts Golf Association to compete over the two days.
It was a great opportunity to showcase our course and club, and the event wouldn’t have been possible without the many volunteers who put in a huge amount of work both before and during the event. Thank you to everyone who helped make the two days such a success.
One of the highlights came at the conclusion of Wednesday’s play, with the Division 1 title going to a sudden-death playoff between Pauline Rowsell (Parndana Golf Club) and Jane Hughes (Port Broughton Golf Club).
With spectators gathered around the clubhouse, Pauline and Jane played the 18th as the first playoff hole but still couldn’t be separated. It was back to the 18th for a second time, where Pauline made birdie to Jane’s par to claim the Division 1 title and bring a great two days of golf to an exciting finish.
The event concluded with Wednesday night’s Presentation Dinner, where everyone enjoyed a wonderful meal provided by Nickie Mead, along with some light entertainment. Representatives from Crystal Brook Golf Club and the Northern Districts Golf Association spoke on the night and thanked everyone involved in making the event such a success.
