Greetings all. Excellent turn out again last Tuesday and it appears that everyone has adapted to going around the track from the correct start/finish line for probably the first time in over 40 years. With the new temporary facility compound up and running, we should be settled for the duration until the new building is ready to receive us.
Thanks to those regular volunteers who jump in to keep the meetings going smoothly and the generous supper contributions by all.
As most will be aware, the WMAC wound up last Thursday with many standout individual performances contributing to a very successful championships for the Australian national team. Hopefully our own world champion, Allan Wood, will be back soon to give us a first hand account of the event and show off his medals. Closer to home we have the Hawley Thomas relay next Thursday at East Burwood where medals of only slightly less significance will also be up for grabs.
On Tuesday, 8/9, our program is:
-1300m walk NOT.
-80m sprint.
-1200m run
-300m sprint.
-4km run/2km walk NOT.
See you there.
By the way, I think Christos’s Mongolian M90 athlete competed in the 2019 Oceania championships in McKay where Jess, Staggy, Eggy and I met him. Andrew Egginton gave him a ride around town to help him and his daughter get to their hotel and I gave him a pair of team Australia running shorts to remember us by. Great to see he is still going strong.
Cheers, Grant.

Greetings all. I’ve been advised that the relocation of the temporary facilities at the track is complete and that they are ready to use. So we’re back in action tomorrow evening at the usual time. I’ll get there a bit earlier and start moving our stuff back into the main shed. We’re right next to the storage container so it will be easier than it was to move stuff out.
We’ll stick to the program according to the dates meaning, we’ll unfortunately miss the last two weeks but that’s out of our control. On a good note, I’ll have the hoodies to dispense which will help keep out the chill.
Our program for Tuesday, 25/8, will be:
-2x2x400m walk relay.
-90m sprint.
-1100m NOT run.
-250m sprint.
-5km run/2200m walk.
See you there.
Cheers, Grant.

Hi Venue managers,

The Bill Sewart Track (East Burwood) is going to be rebuilt. The Council has started the tendering process. We do not yet know when the track will be closed for the works, but at this stage we are assuming that we can still have the Hawley Thomas 3 x 2000 m Relay as planned on Thursday evening 10th September.
Details are attached.
There are separate men's and women's teams, each of three runners, 2000 m per leg.
We are happy for mixed teams and incomplete teams to compete if people want to come and enjoy the evening. These runners will be eligible for individual awards, but not for the teams' trophies.
