Late notice because I've been so busy on other stuff.
Friday 17th April 11:30 till 1:30 as part of Shellharbour Council Youth Week we will be running come & try wheelchair basketball at Shellharbour City Stadium.
Open to 12 to 24 year olds.

Round 1 of Waratah League done.
A very good day for both Illawarra Hawks teams:

Division 1 saw Illawarra defeat Hills Hornets 47-17. And Illawarra defeat Blacktown Storm in a hard fought game 51-44. Pretty good for a mix of Wollongong Roller Hawks, and our Development Group playing together . Completely new for some of the Development players.

Division 2 saw a bit more of a mix:
Illawarra defeating Newcastle 52-8
Illawarra defeating Blacktown 42-12
and in an overtime nailbiter that was level all game Central Coast edged out the win 30-28

Apologies for the absence of a Division 1 team photo - I'll make sure I get one next round.

It starts this weekend!

2 Illawarra based teams - both featuring experience and developing new players. It was hard to decide which team to put some people in. Some I'm throwing in the deep end but I have confidence in them and their experienced team-mates.

This is what our Development Pathway strives to achieve.

6 wins from 6 games at the final round of Wheelchair Sports NSW / ACT Club League, and overall League winners for the second year in a row.

Some highlights: Young Lachlan getting the Junior Male MVP for the League. Very well earned.
Courtney getting Female MVP for today's round.

✍️ SIGNING ANNOUNCEMENT: Squawkie Returns

The Just Better Care Wollongong Roller Hawks are pleased to announce their first signing for 2026 with the return of fan favourite Squawkie the Hawkie for the upcoming season.

“We know going into this season we need something extra to put ourselves over the top and having Squawkie’s services back in Roller Hawks colours could be just the edge we need in what is going to be a highly competitive season”.

Squawkie has signed a deal to promote the team throughout the year and appear at selected home matches during the season starting with a reminder to Illawarra businesses that team sponsorships are still available.

“At the moment we still have team sponsorships available in Gold ($10,000), Silver ($5,000) and Bronze ($2,500). We’re very excited to have the large majority of our sponsors return from last season, which we’ll be announcing over the coming weeks, but we definitely need a few more.”
