Being motivated all the time isn’t normal…
But having days where you have to convince yourself to train? That’s completely normal.

Things I’ve had to learn myself as a PT:
1. Some days you go in with the best intentions to train hard… and your body just isn’t there.
That’s not a failure — that’s being human.
2. The daily battle to get your session done is very real.
Some days the ā€œjust restā€ voice wins — and honestly, sometimes it should.
3. Learning when to push vs when to pull back is hard.
Resting can feel guilty… but not listening to your body can feel even worse.
4. Your mind will try to talk you out of it.
Sometimes it’s right — sometimes it’s just an excuse.
The hard part is learning the difference.
5. Not every session is going to feel amazing.
If you’re a perfectionist, that’s frustrating — but those ā€œaverageā€ sessions are what actually build consistency.
6. When you’re tired, under-fuelled or not recovered… everything feels harder.
Not just physically, but mentally too.
7. Structure and programs work — but so does flexibility.
Some of my best phases have been when I’ve trained in a way that actually felt good for me not following a plan & just ensuring I’m consistent.

This isn’t from ā€œjust training hard.ā€

This is from following a plan.
The right plan.
For a long time.

Mel started with me 7 years ago—and everything she’s built since then has come from structure, consistency, and trusting the process.

7 years of progression > 7 weeks of randomness.

No guessing.
No jumping between workouts.
No chasing quick fixes.

Just smart programming, progressive overload, and a plan that’s evolved with her through every phase.

Stronger, more confident, and still levelling up.

That’s the difference.

If you want results like Mel’s, it starts with having a plan—and actually sticking to it šŸ’Ŗ

These photos are worlds apart, not because of how I look, but because of how I think.

At 17, I trained to be smaller.
I under-ate.
I obsessed over how I looked.
I thought confidence came from being skinny.

Now?

15 years in the gym.
Multiple injuries.
11+ years coaching.

I train for something completely different.

Clarity.
Resilience.
Energy.
Self-belief.

And I get it, most women don’t usually walk into the gym saying ā€œI just want better mental health.ā€ (Although this is defintely changing)
They say they want to tone up. Lose a few kilos. Feel more confident.

But the reason they stay?
It’s never just about aesthetics.

It’s about proving to yourself you can do hard things.
You can do so much to help yourself mentally & it’s not all for physical reasons.

This was also never a quick fix, this has been years of finding consistency and figuring how important moving my body is for my overall health.

Looking fit really is the bonus.
Feeling strong mentally and physically is the goal.

And that shift changes everything. šŸ¤
Forever grateful for all my body allows me to do & feel.l

āļøWhy should you add thoracic mobility into training? It Allows your shoulders to move freely and overhead without compensation,Reduces neck and lower back strain by sharing load properly,Improves posture (less hunching, rib flare, rounded shoulders),Enhances breathing efficiency and rib expansionIncreases rotation for running, lifting, throwing, and daily movement,Helps prevent shoulder impingement and mid-back stiffness,Improves strength output by creating a more stable, mobile upper spine.āļøWho should do thoracic mobility? Anyone with stiff upper back, rounded shoulders, or poor posture,People with neck, shoulder, or lower back pain/tightness,Desk workers or anyone sitting for long periodsLifters who struggle with overhead movements (pressing, squatting, Olympic lifts),Runners with limited rotation or arm swing,Anyone who feels tight through ribs or struggles with deep breathing,Post-partum or post-injury clients rebuilding movement quality,Athletes needing rotation (golf, tennis, boxing, swimming),Anyone wanting to move better, not just train harder.Save this post & try this thoracic mobility sequence on your own šŸ™Œ
