TUESDAY TRAINING TIP – B-STANCE LOWER BODY VARIATIONS 🦡

Looking to build single-leg strength without the balance demands of traditional unilateral exercises? B-Stance variations are a great option.

By placing most of the load through one leg while using the other for light support, B-Stance exercises offer the benefits of unilateral training while allowing you to lift heavier and focus on producing force.

Key benefits:
βœ… Improve left-to-right strength imbalances
βœ… Build strength and muscle with heavier loads
βœ… Develop hip and pelvic stability
βœ… Reduce the balance demands of single-leg exercises
βœ… Provide a great progression towards true unilateral training

Whether you’re training for strength, muscle growth, sport or simply better movement, B-Stance training is a great tool to have in your program.

Check out the vids below for demonstrations of some common B-Stance exercises we might program. We start with the B-Stance Squat, then scroll through the vids to check out:

β€’ B-Stance Leg Press
β€’ B-Stance Hip Thruster (on BOSU)
β€’ B-Stance Barbell Deadlift

KEY TECHNIQUE POINTS:

πŸ”Ή Working leg does the work – think of the rear leg as a kickstand, providing balance rather than driving the movement.

πŸ”Ή Stay controlled and stable – maintain good alignment through the working foot, knee and hip rather than allowing the body to shift or rotate.

πŸ”Ή Find your optimal stance – the support foot should be positioned far enough away to allow the working leg to move naturally through a full range of motion.

πŸ”Ή Control the eccentric – don’t rush the lowering phase. Own the movement before driving through the working leg.

And remember, if you would like quality 1-1 coaching, or want your strength program individualised, get in touch today via the contact details in bio.

A great first block of training back with PT Evan, and the results speak for themselves! πŸ”₯

Kalem’s results:
β€’ 3.1kg reduction in body fat mass
β€’ 18% overall reduction in body fat
β€’ 1.3kg lean muscle mass gained
β€’ Visceral fat level reduced from 8 β†’ 6

Kalem combined a weekly PT session with Evan alongside his individualised training program using his Elite membership. He also added walking and swimming for some great cross-training.

The goal wasn’t to go as strict as a traditional challenge, but to make some meaningful body composition changes while still enjoying his social life.

The result? A great balance between training, lifestyle and consistency β€” kick-starting his spring transformation at exactly the right time for summer! β˜€οΈπŸ’ͺ

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Tuesday Trainer Tip with Hayley

Do you have a pre-run mobility and activation routine?

Spending just 5–10 minutes preparing your body before a training run can make a big difference. A good pre-run routine can help to:

βœ… Increase blood flow and body temperature
βœ… Activate key muscles needed for running
βœ… Improve joint mobility and movement quality
βœ… Prepare your body for the demands of running
βœ… Help you feel more mobile, coordinated and ready to run

While there are an infinite number of activation and mobility exercises you can use before a run, your routine should ultimately be individualised to your needs, your body and your running goals.

Today, we’re sharing some common drills that can be incorporated into a pre-run routine.

Scroll through the videos to check out:

πŸ”Ή Banded crab walks & monster walks
πŸ”Ή Calf pumps
πŸ”Ή Lunge & twist
πŸ”Ή Hip circles
πŸ”Ή Dynamic adductor stretches
πŸ”Ή Hip swings
πŸ”Ή Open books

Try incorporating a few of these into your next 5–10 minute pre-run routine and see how you feel! πŸ’ͺπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Banded Crab Walks & Monster Walks

Why use them?
πŸ”Ή Activate the glutes and hip stabilisers
πŸ”Ή Prepare the hips and legs for the demands of running
πŸ”Ή Improve lateral hip strength and control

Technique Tips:
βœ… Keep constant tension on the band
βœ… Stay tall with a soft bend in the knees
βœ… Take controlled steps without letting the knees collapse inward
βœ… Keep your hips level and avoid excessive side-to-side movement

Think: Controlled movement + constant tension = better activation. πŸ’ͺπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Calf Pumps

Why use them?
πŸ”Ή Increase blood flow and warm up the calf muscles
πŸ”Ή Prepare the calves and Achilles for the repetitive demands of running
πŸ”Ή Improve ankle mobility and movement through the lower leg

Technique Tips:
βœ… Move smoothly through the full range of motion
βœ… Keep your weight controlled through the balls of your feet
βœ… Avoid bouncingβ€”use a steady, rhythmic movement
βœ… Keep your knees soft and maintain good

Client Success Post πŸ’ͺ

Join us in giving a big shout out to Kylie Moses for her outstanding body composition transformation, strength and fitness gains! πŸ‘

Over the past couple of months, Kylie has achieved some amazing results:

πŸ”₯ 4.8 kg in body fat mass lost
πŸ”₯ 20% reduction in body fat mass
πŸ”₯ 6 cm reduction in waist girth
πŸ”₯ 1.3 kg increase in skeletal muscle mass

Kylie has achieved these results through consistency, commitment and a well-rounded approach.

Her regular in-gym sessions with trainer Isaac have focused on building strength and muscle mass, supported by a carefully designed overall training plan. This has included Run Group once a week, plus a couple of additional group training sessions each week, including Circuit and/or Boot Camp.

Combined with her nutrition plan β€” which Kylie has adhered to around 90% of the time β€” this consistent approach has delivered fantastic body composition results, along with some obvious improvements in strength, fitness and overall performance.

πŸ‘ Well done, Kylie! Your consistency and commitment have really paid off, and we’re excited to see where you go from here!
