With everything on the line, the match was decided in a super tiebreak, where Brayden edged ahead 10–8 to claim the title.

Over the last month many players battled it out in the Senior Club Championships and what a match we were treated to in the Open Women’s Singles Championship 👏🎾

Kara Smith and Rochelle Joyce delivered a fitting finale, putting on an incredible display of tennis. The first two sets couldn’t be split — both going to tiebreaks in a contest that had everything.

With the title on the line, Kara held her nerve in a thrilling super tiebreak, taking it out 10–8 to claim the championship.

A fantastic match played in outstanding spirit by both players.

Congratulations to Kara on her first Club Championship at Mt Prospect, adding her name to an esteemed list of winners 🏆

A fantastic day of tennis capped off the Senior Mixed Pennant season, with both Grand Finals played in challenging conditions that tested every player across the board.

In A Grade, Smeaton rose to the occasion in the biggest match of the year, delivering a strong performance to defeat Miners Rest 6 sets to 2, 61 games to 40. After a season where little separated the two sides, Smeaton produced when it mattered most, showcasing depth and composure across the board to claim the premiership.

In A1 Grade, Guildford Districts turned the tables to claim the premiership, defeating Ballarat Berties 6 sets to 3, 63 games to 52. After finishing second on the ladder, Guildford Districts stepped up under pressure and delivered a well-rounded team performance, while the Berties fought hard but couldn’t quite replicate their earlier season success.

It was a fitting conclusion to a terrific season of tennis, played in great spirit despite the tough conditions. Thank you to all players for their efforts across the year, to the many volunteers who give their time to ensure the competition runs so smoothly and to Community Bank Creswick & District for their continued support of the competition and the association as a whole. Your contribution is invaluable.

We're excited for our 2025/26 Senior Mixed Pennant Grand Finals tomorrow proudly sponsored by Community Bank Creswick & District.

See below for an overview of our A Grade and A1 Grade match ups.

A Grade
The stage is set for a thrilling A Grade Grand Final showdown between Miners Rest and Smeaton, with the season’s two standout sides to battle it out for premiership glory. There has been little to separate them across the year.

Smeaton struck first in Round 4 with a 6/50 to 3/37 win, the Round 9 meeting was washed out, and Miners Rest responded in Round 14 with a narrow 5/60 to 4/57 victory. Fittingly, the sides finished first and second on the ladder, with Miners Rest claiming top spot after a consistent campaign, while Smeaton proved just as dangerous in close contests.

Both teams enter the decider full of confidence after tight semi-final wins, highlighting their ability to handle pressure when it matters most. With one win apiece during the season and nothing between them on form, this Grand Final shapes as a genuine toss-up. Miners Rest will be eager to cap off their standout season with the premiership, while Smeaton have a golden opportunity to turn the tables on the ladder leaders and claim the ultimate prize in what promises to be a fiercely contested and high-quality contest.

A1 Grade
A1’s Grand Final will see Ballarat Berties and Guildford Districts face off in what looms as a fascinating contest between the competition’s top two sides. Their head-to-head record this season offers little guidance, with both their Round 3 and Round 10 clashes washed out, leaving just one completed meeting in Round 17, where Ballarat Berties produced a strong performance to defeat Guildford Districts 6/63 to 3/47. That result, however, only tells part of the story, with Guildford Districts proving throughout the season they are more than capable of challenging the ladder leaders.

Ballarat Berties have earned top spot through a consistent and well-rounded campaign, setting the benchmark across the year, while Guildford Districts have been close behind in second, building momentum at the right time. With limited direct match play between the sides, this decider presents a fresh challenge for both teams and a huge opportunity to stamp their authority on the season. For the Berties, it’s a chance to convert their minor premiership into ultimate success, while Guildford Districts will be determined to rise to the occasion and seize their moment on the biggest stage.

Good luck to all teams! Play begins at Mt Prospect Tennis Association from 1pm.

The grand finals of the Mount Prospect Midweek Ladies Sections 1 and 2 were played this morning in near perfect conditions.
Both matches were contested at a very high level, with each team evenly matched on sets and the winning sides only pulling ahead by a few games.
Congratulations to both the winners and the runners-up, and thank you to all our midweek ladies for your continued support throughout the year.

In Section 1, the grand final saw second place take on fourth. Congratulations to Drop Shot Divas, who overcame last year’s premiers, Skipton, in a very close match. The final score saw Drop Shot Divas win 3 sets 26 games to Skipton’s 3 sets 24 games.

Sally Pope proved to be the difference for Drop Shot Divas, winning all three of her sets on the day, while Tori Kennedy and Maria Nunn fought hard for Skipton, each securing two sets.

The Section 2 Midweek Ladies grand final saw the undefeated Sets in the City take on third-placed One Hit Wonders. It was another close contest, with Sets in the City getting up 3 sets 29 games to One Hit Wonders’ 3 sets 25 games.

Catherine Freemantle tried her hardest for One Hit Wonders, winning all three of her sets, but the overall consistency of all the players from Sets in the City proved too strong on the day.

The Grand Final of the Mixed and Men’s Divisions of the Community Bank Creswick & District Twilight Corporate Cup was played on Wednesday night. In what was a great way to finish the Twilight Competition for the year, both Grand Finals were played at a high level, with MOR Finance defeating Murray’s Water Boring in the mixed competition, and Driscoll Joinery defeating Advantage Feeders in the men's competition. Both finals were great matches, with a brief summary for each match below.

Congratulations to both winners and thank you to all teams for their support throughout the season, and in particular to the Community Bank Creswick & District as major sponsor. It was great to have Lisa and Oscar from the Community Bank attend the evening, and we certainly encourage all participants to utilise the Community Bank and the services they provide. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next season!

Mixed Division Results – MOR Finance vs Murray’s Water Boring

Congratulations to MOR Finance who capped off a strong season (their first in the competition), winning 3 sets 33 games to 1 set 31 games. Paula Bradley from MOR Finance was a standout player in both of her sets, ensuring that the team was able to secure the win, despite the best efforts of Mark Thornton from Murray’s Water Boring. Well done to both teams on a great match and congratulations to MOR Finance on their 1st victory in the competition.

Men’s Division Results - Driscoll Joinery vs Advantage Feeders

Congratulations to Driscoll Joinery who defeated Advantage Feeders, 3 sets 35 games to 1 set 18 games. Richie Robinson from Driscoll Joinery was a standout for his side and was able to guide the team to victory, their 3rd victory in the competition’s history. Well done to Kurt Ashworth who provided some great resistance, in what was a great display of tennis from both sides.
