Advanced isn't a shape. It's how present you are inside it.

There's a common assumption that "advanced" means more flexible, more extreme, more visually impressive — the pose that looks the hardest. But ask any longtime teacher and they'll tell you the opposite is usually true. The most advanced practitioners are often the ones doing the simplest version of a pose with total precision, full breath, and total honesty about what their body needs that day.
Chasing the advanced version of a pose can actually work against the practice. Forcing a shape your body isn't ready for teaches you to override signals instead of listen to them. Meanwhile, a foundational pose held with real attention builds strength, awareness, and patience — the actual qualities that make a practice mature over time.
This shows up everywhere outside the studio too. The most capable people aren't always the ones doing the most complicated version of something. Often it's the ones who've mastered the fundamentals so completely that they make hard things look simple.
Where in your life have you been chasing the "advanced" version of something instead of doing the basics well?
