Congratulations to our 14.1 Mermaids on taking out the grand final at the Bendigo Junior Classic Tournament by 2 points!! What a performance from a talented, gritty group of girls who played with confidence, composure, and incredible teamwork when it mattered most.
We are so proud of the way you competed, supported one another, and represented Warrnambool Basketball on the big stage. This is a win to celebrate and a team to be proud of.

🕰️ Throwback Thursday!
Remember when the Bendigo Spirit came to town? Well, guess which one of our amazing coaches played for the Spirit? It was a mini reunion for Louise Brown, who once proudly wore the Bendigo Spirit jersey during her playing career. 🏀💪
Louise’s dedication to our junior programs is nothing short of incredible, especially with the Ford Aussie Hoops and representative programs. Her experience as both a Championship Player and Coach with our Big V Mermaids adds so much value to our community.
We are incredibly lucky to have Louise continuing to develop and inspire our junior ballers here in Warrnambool. Her passion for the game and support for our athletes — away with family includes supporting Jaylen (Aussie Rollers, Turkey) and Dakota Crichton (Townsville Fire) and her mini ballers within our Ford Aussie Hoops and crowned Vistoria Coach of the Year in 2024 for the Aussie Hoops — shows just how much she contributes, both on and off the court.
Congratulations, Louise, on your remarkable achievements and for everything you do for our next generation of basketball stars! 🌟

🏀 THE MICHAEL McGOWAN MEMORIAL TROPHY: Warrnambool Basketball Best Club Person Award 🏀

This prestigious award, in honour of Michael “Mick” McGowan (1975-2022), will once again be presented at our annual junior basketball tournament.
The award recognises someone who has worked tirelessly for Warrnambool Basketball, just like Mick did.
Mick was an esteemed leader of Warrnambool Basketball for many years and was the driving force for many of Warrnambool Basketball’s successes, both on and off the court.
Please join us on Saturday night to remember Mick while also recognising the contributions of a well deserving recipient.
