Novice powerlifting debut!

Yesterday .heenan competed at the novice competition, stepping onto the platform for the first time and smashing out a solid 562.5 kg total!

Squat - 205kgs
Bench - 125kgs
Deadlift - 232.5kgs

We discovered new weakness and gained a better understanding of how his body responds to training based off the outcome of his comp day, now we can apply some small changes and get him right back into some larger training blocks to further reach for that 600kg total!

Great work mate, absolute smashed it 🤝

LEAD BY EXAMPLE! 💥💪

You will only be as strong as the people you bring up around you, this is why you will never see me lift alone. Always letting people jump in and always pushing the limits!

Next time you're lifting, see who's doing the same workout and jump in with them. It might just be that push you need!

How do you recover?! 💥😴

There are many ways to improve your recovery both inside the gym and I recently found that the use of a massage gun with clients who have tension build up is a good start. Where stretching may not always be the best way, the light use of the massage gun both warms up and releases any tension in the muscles. This is also paired with appropriate warm up routines and excersise selection based on every clients individual needs. Overall I have found this a great tool for all my clients and even my self.

Why commit to training 5 days a week?!

Simple put that in order to achieve the amount of work load to stimulate the muscles accurately will require more then a 30 minute session once a week. In fact you will need hours and hours spread over a minimum of 3 days to even scratch the surface of what your body requires to challenge it's self. It is then here that your body will start to burn fat and build muscle, slowly working towards achieving your dream body composition and then ultimately deciding what you do along that journey that will then determine whether you progress gradually or become stagnant.

In summary, don't limit yourself to a few set days and try do as much as you can daily. But it that you go for a walk on an active rest day or smash out a weights session. Keep moving and keep pushing!

In the photo is my client Shiv! This guy is a legend, making it to the gym daily and always on top of his food intake. Achieving a 10kg weight loss and significant waist improvement. Shown above!
