Riding Blind Project 2022

Riding Blind Project 2022 Riding Blind Project was supported through the Queensland Government’s Active Industry Project Fund.

Motorcycling Queensland's Riding Blind Project is an activity for vision-impaired riders who wish to experience the freedom and exhilaration of motorcycling. MQ originally developed a carefully structured test program to examine the validity of voice-guided riding for V.I. riders, bringing together relevant insurance, venue access, and a recreational licence, and beginning with Chass Moller-Nielse

n. The 2021 program proved successful, and gave four riders a chance to experience the freedom and exhilaration of motorcycling. This led to a bigger and better Riding Blind Project in 2022. Developed in partnership with Queensland Moto Park and Ipswich Dirt Bike Hire, RBP is a weekly session for vision-impaired riders of all levels, one which has already given around a dozen new pilots the chance to ride a motorcycle, and come together in a supportive group atmosphere. We had a fantastic and enjoyable final regular session out at QMP yesterday, and for once this year the rain was courteous enough to wait until after we were done.
Had a solid crew of old and new faces and a phone check-in from one of our day-1 regulars Chris who is out injured (non bike related), and a surprise visit from George, also injured (umm... bike related).
Finished off up at Shazza's Cafe with a cake and a lot of people sharing what the Riding Blind Project has meant to them and lots of hugs as our new family parted ways for now.
The (we think) world's first Riding Blind Project was certainly a success, and hopefully we can gain the support needed to go again next year.
Thanks Queensland Moto Park for looking after us so generously during our time, and Motorcycling Queensland for setting up RBP.
