What an incredible week of squash! Both Tuesday and Thursday night competitions wrapped up with fantastic matches, great sportsmanship, and plenty of exciting rallies. Here are all the results:

TUESDAY NIGHT COMPETITION - GRAND FINAL

🥇 Champions: Team Huskies – Brett Arnold & Greg Duncan
A dominant performance to take the title!

🥈 Runners-Up: Team Terriers – Damien & John Pleming

A great effort to secure the bronze!

A solid performance and strong finish to the season.

This Grand Final was the first since the passing of Bill Bock in late September. Bill could always be seen watching over the games, cheering on players, and supporting the squash community with his warmth and enthusiasm.

Bill played a foundational role in establishing and growing squash as a sport in Corowa, helping to shape the vibrant squash community we enjoy today. This year’s Grand Final was a spectacular set of games, fought with intensity and skill that Bill would have truly enjoyed watching. His presence is deeply missed, but his passion for the game and the friendships he nurtured continue to inspire all of us.

Big Night of Squash at Club Corowa Courts

A large crowd turned out on Thursday night at the Club Corowa Squash Courts for a special exhibition featuring two of Australia’s leading squash talents.

Former professional player Rex Hendricks headlined the evening. Hendricks retired from the international tour last year, but throughout his career reached a world ranking of 48 and remains Australia’s number one ranked player.

He was joined on court by Tate Norris, currently ranked fifth in Australia and with a career-high world ranking of 167. Norris has enjoyed strong recent form, finishing runner-up in Professional Squash Association (PSA) tournaments in both Bendigo and Shepparton.

The duo not only treated the crowd to an entertaining showcase match against each other, but also spent time coaching the club’s junior members. Several senior players then took the chance to step on court and rally against the pair in a light-hearted but competitive challenge.

The night also marked a special milestone for the local squash community, with Graeme Leslie awarded Life Membership of the Club Corowa Squash Club. Leslie has been a playing member for 25 years, including 15 years on the committee and a decade as club president. He is also a seven-time club champion.

Club members and visitors applauded Graeme Leslie’s long service and enjoyed the opportunity to see elite squash played locally.
