Way back in 2009 I met Pete McInytre over good old FB. Pete and Emma raced Ruffian a lovely old Sigma 36 just like Rogue Wave. I followed their racing exploits and picked up many tips. Over the years Pete helped me with advice on how to get the best from the old girl. He regularly raced double-handed with Emma and also fully crewed out of Scarborough Yacht Club in the UK. A true gentleman.

Unfortunately Pete passed away before we could meet.
In 2019, our bunch of old Rogues crewed Rogue Wave in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Race, and we carried a bottle of Petes favourite Gin to toast him after our finish.

Well I was out walking the other day in Penryn upstream from Falmouth and look what I spotted....Ruffian. Still owned by Emma and being prepped for delivery. Rest easy Pete.

Unfortunately the two rogue skippers needed some personal maintenance so we had to bench ourselves for this years Rolex Sydney Hobart Race. Rogue Wave will be hauled for annual maintenance and then prepped for a lengthy rest.

My focus will return to my Aviator Ocean Racing campaign on Roaring Forty as I prepare for the 2023/24 Global Solo Challenge starting in Oct 23 from A Coruna in Spain.
Join me and follow along as I ramp up my prep and training commencing with a shakedown race from the UK to the Azores and back (AZAB) starting on 03 June.

Having a crack at the Around Australia singlehanded, unassisted and non-stop has been on my bucket list since 2004. Post Global Solo Challenge, Roaring Forty gets a crack.

Let's hope Xavier beats the record......but only by a few hours ;)

**WATERLINE LITTLE AUSSIE LAP UPDATE**

Two days in and it has been absolutely hard going. It was a hectic night last night for Xavier and Waterline as anyone watching the radar has seen. Throughout the night he was battling 30 kn winds gusting to 40+ kn and surfing down the back of waves that were 4 to 4+ metres. A rough and wet night with no sleep and as the wind and seas ease later today he will be able to dry out. He is looking good, he is on track. After 2 full days, he has sailed 223 NM and is rounding Fraser Island to start and head up toward the reef.

He was able to jump on the Sat Phone and chat to his team this morning; his Mum Caitlin, PJ Habner and Steve Curtis and will check in with Simon Turpin this afternoon. The little legend sounds great besides being super tired. He is looking forward to the next few days, getting some food in, some much needed rest and getting into a routine.

He wanted to say thanks for all the support! Still buoyed by the incredible flotilla that saw him off and can't wait to see you all soon!

Keep updated through Facebook, Instagram, and his tracker www.thelittleaussielap.com/tracker
