A look into our history as Cora Lynn FNC turns 100 years old 🐍🎂👏🏼
Cora Lynn Netball Club’s history dates back to 1944, when games were played in a paddock at the Cora Lynn State School and netball was still known as “basketball.” From the very beginning, the club became an important part of the local farming community, built on the dedication of players, families, volunteers and supporters.
Throughout the decades, generations of Cobra families helped shape the club, with premiership success beginning in 1947 and continuing across every era.
Junior netball expanded in the 1980s, the club celebrated its first junior premiership in 1993, and the 2000s brought major growth both on and off the court — including new uniforms, memorable netball trips, elite player pathways, and A Grade premierships in 2002 and 2003.
After joining the Ellinbank league in 2004, success continued with multiple premierships, the completion of the new clubrooms in 2014, and the introduction of new grades allowing more players to wear the Cobra colours.
Recent years have become some of the most successful in club history, highlighted by C Grade’s 2024 premiership and an incredible 2025 season where five teams reached grand finals and all four junior grades, along with C Grade, claimed premierships.
The club continues to celebrate remarkable milestones, including Jacqui Dennis (Beilby) reaching 400 games & growing, still the most games played in a Cora Lynn dress, and Monica Schade (Hester) taking the court alongside her three daughters.
Most importantly, Cora Lynn remains a proud, community-driven club built on generations of commitment, passion and family spirit. Once a Cobra, always a Cobra.
