Cooroy Bowls

Cooroy Bowls Our club was first formed in 1946 to provide a form of recreation for soldiers returning from WWII and their families. We are known as the “Possums”.

We have survived various changes over eighty years but continue to be a social community focused club.

A few photos from Sunday's wonderful family fund raiser to help raise much needed funds for the Green improvement fund.

Crackerjack was really jumping and people of all ages were having a great time.

Watch this space in the coming days for more photos and details of how much money we raised.

The final of the club triples championship today (Saturday) saw the ladies reign supreme!

At the completion of three rounds played over the last two weekends the team of Eileen, Kay & Suzie came out on top.

The team played consistently throughout the tournament & the victory was well deserved

A bad loss in round two ensured that the team of Kathy, Ann & Peter were runners up by just two ends when the scores were tallied.

Go girls - Congratulations 🏆🎉🎖

Troy, one of our loyal members competed in the Queensland State Multi-disability Championships in Brisbane last weekend.

Despite being mistakingly enrolled in the wrong division, amongst some very tough competition, and being soundly beaten on the first day, Troy got it all together on day two.

To the amazement of many, including those who defeated him on the first day, Troy lifted & played like a true champion.
After a long two hours on the greens he was just pipped at the post.

Troy and all his followers are ectremely proud of his efforts at State Level.

And so too are all Troy's fellow Cooroy Bowls Club members.

Well done Troy.

Club President Maureen congratulates Troy on his achievement today (photo).

Troy received a special Cooroy Bowls Club Encouragement award at our end of year presentation night last year.

Long time member, enthusiastic Geelong AFL supporter, & a truly great contributor to our bowls club celebrated his ??th birthday at Crackerjack on Saturday.

Many members who do not play in our Saturday and/or Tuesday social days will know Michael as the driver behind our highly successful & enjoyable Business Bowls competition on Wednesday nights which culminates in a gala end of year presentation dinner & free raffle night.

From everyone we wish Michael a very happy birthday.

The first two rounds of our club triples championships took place on Saturday at our home rink in glorious Sunshine Coast weather.

Over two consecutive Saturdays the teams will play each other. The ultimate winner will be decided on the number of games won. If there is more than one clear winner it will go to ends won & if further determination is needed, to points.

With many members unavailable due to holidays & other commitments only four teams have entered this year.
And after the first two rounds it couldn't be more even if we had scripted it - each team won a game!

Next Saturday Kathy, Ann & Peter wil play Denise, Alfie & Justin while Eileen, Suzie & Kay come up against Maureen, Dennis & Michael (Dennis left before we had a chance to take a team photo).

The two championship games will start at 9:00am but there are plenty of rinks available for anyone who wants to come along and just have the usual Saturday social bowl.

The Kilkivan Bowls Club is like many small country based clubs who appreciate the support of other clubs to maintain a presence.
Just like Goomeri where we travelled to last weekend.

A team from Kilkivan actually won the day at Goomeri

And now they are having a competition day on Saturday August 8th.

Sadly it's the first round of our club triples championships so I'm guessing a team from Cooroy probably won't happen.
But just in case, the details are below.

03/08/2026

Social bowls today.
12:00 midday for 12:30 start.
Crackerjack bar is not open Tuesdays so BYO nibbles etc.

See you there !

The long talked about trip to Goomeri happened this weekend.

Two teams from the Cooroy Bowling Club competed in the Goomeri Bowls mid-winter mixed fours event.

Whilst we won't say too much about the results thanks to those who joined in the fun; Paul & his sister & brother-in-law Cheryl & Geoff, Lester, Rolley, Kathy, Bruce Peter H and not to forget our one-person cheer squad, Ann.

All up 56 players represented clubs from Wondai, Murgon, Kandanga, Kilkivan, Nanango, Tansey & Maryborough, and of course the Cooroy Possums!

It was truly heartwarming to see so many clubs supporting a struggling club. It was a great day meeting so many new bowlers from all over.
