Sporting clubs such as ours do not operate without a lot of work, not only when we are open for shooting but also when we are closed. It is definitely not the kinda sport we can think about once a week and then forget about and relax the rest of the time.

There is so much to do, from licenses and permits, to range officers and showing new people how to shoot, to removing pesky possums and hostile takeovers., to just basic cleaning and maintenance. Literally a hundred little jobs that need to be done.

Which is why I am absolutely blessed to have an amazing committee which supports and assists me and our club getting back to where we used to be.

Sabine,Peter,Mark,Charlie and Jake thankyou for everything you do and who you are.

But I want to also say our members are amazing and always are willing to lend a hand when needed and I thankyou for being part of the Monaro Air Rifle club family.

And a special thankyou to young Rocco for helping me with the scoring machine. You bought a lot of smiles to us all.

Happy volunteers week

Official response to the amazing petion that the Minister Roy Butler took to parliament on behalf of 98,000 law abiding licensed fi****ms holders.

Remember when all those non shooting city people asked "why cant members guns be left at the clubs?"

Well just got told today from Fi****ms Registry, that Club Armourers will have limits imposed on them to how many Fi****ms they can have in their storage at any one time.

That will include fi****ms held for safe storage, repairs, sales and transfers. So if your club armourer has been limited to 5, and you have 30 members you legally cant keep them all at the club.

These new laws are the gift that keeps on giving.

Did you know, that the NSW limits on how many fi****ms you can own is going to be applied to clubs as well??

Was advised today from Fi****ms Registry that Clubs will also be restricted to owning 10 club guns.

Now that may sound a lot but when you have a specific type of firearm that really cant be used outside of the range, a lot of newer shooters to our sport dont go and buy new Target Air rifles straight away especially for juniors.

Which is why clubs like ours have club guns. for people to use, This also includes simulators etc But if your club has a couple of disciplines, it will be easy to get to 10.

So more members buying more guns instead of lending the ones already there.

But its also the first we have heard about this one.

We are doing what we can to find out information to pass on which has ben near impossible from a NSW government point of view. But I have came across this today from an Independent Roy Butler... It does need to be said that those Politian's that voted NO are the ones trying to get the information out to us..
If you click on his post he also gives you exactly which NSW Politian's voted yes or no

With the introduction of the new fi****ms laws in NSW, many of you have questions.

I have picked out the most frequently asked questions and put the answers in plain English to bring some clarity to what the Government is seeking to do. See the link below.

To be very clear, I do not agree with the government's legislation, nor the process they have used. It is disrespectful and offensive to good people to be treated this way. But, here we are, unfortunately.

If we have missed any questions, or if you would like clarity on another section of the legislation, please email - [email protected]
