This is a long but amazing speech that was delivered to parliament with a bill to repeal the fi****ms reforms.

It is extremely well presented and thought out speech which gives some insight to the magnitude of the costs to the taxpayer and devastation to the industries related to fi****ms.

We can only hope common sense prevails.

Mark rises to repeal the draconian laws of December 2025.

The remaining changes introduced on the 1st of July as part of the Terrorism and other Legislation Amendments Act 2025 (TOLA) are more internal Fire Arms Registry, Police and Other Agency changes that strengthen the existing laws.

These will have no impact on how new and existing Fi****ms license applications are made or on law abiding people.

The changes are:

* Terrorism related checks on all PTA's. (Permit to Acquire)
This is to ensure a PTA is not issue to any one investigated for terrorism or associates or resides with any one investigated for terrorism.

* Identity Verification requirements.
To ensure an application for a fi****ms license does not proceed if the applicants identity has not been properly verified.

*Delegation of decision making functions
Internal police functions.

POV: Now I must admit I'm not a Politian and don't get paid the big bucks, but I would have thought stopping any one investigated for terrorism from getting a gun license would have been more helpful then letting them get a license but then stopping them get a PTA. But I would have also thought checking people identification went without question.🤷‍♀️
