Hi Everyone,

It's my sad task to announce today that no, we will not be running our Cooma & District Kennel & Obedience Club conformation shows this year (in 2024).

We are running our Trials and Obedience program, which will be at the Club's Berridale grounds (about 20 mins south of Cooma) on 29 November- 1 December. So please enter!

As a (very) small club we simply don't have the 'hands on deck' to be able to run these shows, and we want to run the best shows we can.

Added to that, our Council have decided to hand the responsibility of booking and managing all aspects of camping at the showgrounds to whichever community group is using them - and on top of all the other organizing that goes along with running three (or more) conformation shows over three days, it's simply too much for a committee who all work full-time already.

We will do our best to be back better than ever in 2025. And a message for all those who love to compete in the conformation arena- it's all hands on deck, or there won't be many regional or smaller shows to enter any more.

HUGE thanks to everyone for their support over the past several decades and a big 'shout out' to all those who have helped the Club over the years, in many roles- big and small. We look forward to seeing you all again in Cooma for our 2025 conformation program.

Conformation exhibitors - please be advised that Refunds are now available through ShowManager. Thank you for your patience and sincere and grateful thanks to those exhibitors who have indicated they wish to donate their entry - very kind and will assist the club greatly in covering expenses from our cancelled shows.

In case you are wondering - it continued to rain and storm here in Cooma right through til Sunday evening with several huge downpours on Saturday. The grounds would not have held up and the council would have been very annoyed with ground damage (and would charge us to repair) Pheeew!

Dates for next year are 29th & 30th Nov and 1st December 2024. Hope you can make it :-)

📣RALLY & TRICKS Info📣

We have approval from DogsNSW to run Rally and Tricks at our club grounds in Berridale, YAY!!!.

We are not running Obedience because of concerns that there would not be enough space. We will transfer Obedience entries into Rally or Tricks classes on the day if you wish.

New venue: 35 O'Brien Avenue, Berridale NSW (look for the C&DK&OC sign)
Drive up the main road from Cooma (Kosciusko Rd) then when you get to Berridale (about 30 minutes south of Cooma) turn left at Myack St (or Bolton St if the road is closed due to water) then left on William St and follow to the T intersection with O'Brien Ave. Then turn right onto O'brien Ave and you will see the C&DK&OC sign, drive in through the gate and welcome to our shared community sports facilities (including clubhouse). It should be good!

We will run as per the schedule for Tricks and Rally

Friday: Rally 10am Check-in for 11am start

Saturday: Tricks 10am Check-in for 11am start

Sunday: Rally 7:15am Check-in for 8am Start | Tricks: 10am check-in for 11am start

ATTENTION ALL: Council have advised that due to current ground saturation levels and predicted rainfall for tonight, tomorrow and Saturday The Cooma Showground Oval will remain closed for the foreseeable future. It is therefore with great regret that the committee advises that The Cooma Canine Carnival - All Events (edited to add tricks and rally still on at a new venue) for this weekend are sadly cancelled.

We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience, especially to those who have already arrived or who are currently travelling. We will do our best to get the message out by all means possible..

Camping will be refunded by Council - please give them until next week to process refunds before you contact them.

Please allow the committee time to work out entry fee refund process etc.

A very sad decision but I am sure you all understand - And if anyone can find El Nino - tell her she's late.

Campers arriving today please note Council is currently impacted by an internet outage. Toilets etc will be open this afternoon once I have picked up the keys :-)

IMPORTANT: - The Oval is closed in order to protect ground conditions for Friday, Please stay off the Oval and exercise your dogs elsewhere. No vehicles or "heavy wheels" on the Oval at any time over the weekend - this incudes trolleys packed to the rafters - - if you need help to carry stuff when setting up - muscles here will give you a hand.

Travel safe especially if having to negotiate weather on the way - please bring your best sunny demeanour to ward away the damp weather :-)

🦆Nice Weather for Ducks ☔️

The Cooma Show's are going ahead. The current weather forecast is for significant improvement before weekend with a drier day on Thursday and less than 60% chance of afternoon evening showers under 5mm for fri/sat/sun.

The committee will assess ground conditions on Thursday morning in consultation with council and if there is any change all exhibitors will be notified immediately.

Pack your wellington boots and a brolly! Special prize for best rubber ducky outfit!

Not long to go Cooma Campers - see attached camping map - please read the destructions down the right hand side. 😃

Please do not set up camp in the red marked areas for vendors and officials - you will be asked to move.

Powered camping is booked out and site allocation is first come first served. There are still unpowered sites available - generators are permitted.

Committee will be around at some point Weds 29th pm and from 5pm Thursday 30th Nov to set up rings.

Ring Plan for Champ Shows (different rings from last last year to keep you guessing) will be available first thing Friday 1st Dec morning - no set up before then please as we need to set up and start dogs sports before you take over the oval with your gazillion gazebos :-)

Perfect weather has been ordered - we are just going to water the grounds over the next week or so before some pleasant sunshine with a light breeze for show days as requested.

Further updates to follow - entries are still open and we still need your support please -we truly are grateful to all who enter to keep out little club afloat.

ENTRIES CLOSING!

In less than two weeks. Numbers are low and there are plenty of challenge points still on offer. We will not be holding entries open to the last minute as we have lots of printing etc to do so please if you plan on entering don't wait as you may miss out.

We need another 100 or so entries to keep the club viable after a few difficult years (not just us we know) and we really appreciate your support. :-)

Only a month to go to this years super shows in the snowies ❄️

Entries close in 3 weeks, get them in folks. We've four super rings at the showground, shopping, on-site camping, coffee and food van and did someone say donuts???? 🍩 🍩 🍩 😋

And of course you get to listen to me shouting "puppy" with a p all weekend and I know how much you all love how I say puppy. 🐶🐕😄

Our little club needs your support, please come have a fun time with us. 🙏
