Ali's first class at Village is this Friday at 6:00am, and Village family... you're in for a treat. 🤍

Please join us in welcoming Ali to the Village as she brings back Strong Slow Flow at 6:00am every Friday.

Anyone who's been around Village for a while will surely remember Rani Shah who literally added the "Strong" into Slow Flow. Let's just say Rani liked it a little spicy 😆. This one's been off the schedule for a while now but these cold winter mornings made us think it's the perfect time to bring this one back!

Ali draws on her training in Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin Yoga, Classical Ta**ra, breathwork, meditation and sound healing to create classes that weave together mindful movement, conscious breath and moments of stillness. Her teaching is warm, grounded and inclusive, encouraging students to move with awareness, cultivate presence and experience yoga as a practice of connection rather than perfection.

Ali's intention is simple: for every student to leave feeling more present, balanced and connected to themselves. 🤍

APPROACHING MIND AND MEDITATION COURSE

A 16 week mindfulness meditation course with supporting teachings on how to work with our minds to uncover our full potential. Commencing 10th July 2026 at Village Yoga & Pilates Coolum.

Are you drawn to the Buddhist teachings and meditations but don’t really know how to approach them or where to begin? Are you overwhelmed by the vast range of teachings and practices?

How do you know if you are on the right track and do you need some framework with which to locate your practice?

Does what we bring to the teachings have a significant influence on how we understand and benefit from them?

How can we ensure that we’re moving toward understanding the essence of the
teachings and not becoming lost along the way?

In this series of 8 main topics, taught over 16 weeks, the Approaching Mind and Meditation course will explore topics that ensure you make the most out of your efforts to understand and practice Buddhism and meditation in general.

We gather in person three out of every four Friday evenings from 5:45pm-7:00pm at Village Yoga Coolum. Please refer to the Class Schedule on our website and book via the link or otherwise book through Momence.

Drop in any time without the need to commit to every week, as we will continually summarise what we have looked at in previous weeks. You're encouraged to attend what you can, knowing that any missed content can be accessed at a later time, including by PDF handouts.

Entry by donation if you choose to and please arrive at least five minutes early.

Each gathering typically includes intention setting and guided meditation on a chair or cushion (provided). Meditation periods are interspersed with opportunity for light movement and a 25 minute talk about the course, with sitting lasting no more than 25 minutes at a time.

The emphasis is on meeting experience as it is, without pressure or expectation, allowing insight and calm to emerge naturally.

After the success of our recent Comedy Night, we're more motivated than ever to create opportunities for connection outside of class, so we're excited to offer more regular opportunities for community connection.

Join us for a morning hike to the summit of beautiful Mt Ninderry. We'll meet in the Mt Ninderry carpark at 10:30am on Sunday August 2nd before making our way to the top together. Once we've reached the summit, Kat will guide a gentle Qi Gong practice, followed by a mindfulness meditation led by River, all while taking in the incredible surrounds.

River facilitates Sitting in Presence meditation at Village on three Friday evenings each month as part of the Chenrezig Institute outreach program. If you've been curious about meditation, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience his calm and grounded approach in a truly special setting.

This event is all about slowing down, sharing good company and taking a moment to appreciate this incredible place we're lucky enough to call home.

The hike requires a moderate level of fitness, so please come prepared with comfortable walking shoes, water, a hat and weather-appropriate clothing. You might also like to bring a thermos and a light snack to enjoy at the summit before we make our way back down.

This is a free community connection event for Villagers however, we'd really appreciate you booking in on Momence so we have an idea of numbers and can keep everyone updated if our plans need to change due to the weather.

And finally... if you've got an idea for a future Village community event, we'd love to hear it! Whether it's a walk, paddle, picnic, workshop or something completely out of the box, we're all ears.

Huge thanks to the team at Funny Coast Comedy and The Old Ambulance Station Nambour for an absolutely hilarious night! 😂 Tears of laughter were streaming down our faces.

Laughter and connection really are some of the best medicine, and we're pretty sure this is going to become a regular Village social event. So pleased we finally made it along!

A big thank you as well to Ian McKenzie (long term Village yogi extraordinaire) for helping make it happen, and to all of our Villagers who embraced our May and June "Stand Up" theme. ❤️

All jokes aside (see what I did there? 😉), being able to stand up from the floor without using your hands is one of the most valuable movement skills you can develop and maintain. Sure, it's super cool to be able to turn yourself into a pretzel, but let's be honest—being able to get yourself up off the floor is a whole lot more useful in everyday life. It's one of the simplest indicators of strength, mobility and independence as we age.

And finally... we'd love your ideas! If you've got any fun, out-of-the-box community event suggestions you'd love to see the Village crew get behind, we're all ears. 💛

Absolute "happiness" to catch up with Abhi earlier in the week ❤️

For anyone who still wasn't quite sure what Abhi has been up to, well... a picture tells a thousand words!! Looking absolutely radiant and filling out the Village sweat very nicely 😊

Abhi is feeling great and very much enjoying this special season of life. We're so excited for what's ahead and wish Abhi and Paul all the very best as they begin this beautiful next chapter, where two become three. 👶✨

We can't wait to meet the newest little member of the Village family, although we have to admit we're really missing Abhi's beautiful classes, warm energy and smiling face around the studio.

We're looking for another Energy Exchange team member to join the Village.

In exchange for unlimited access to all scheduled classes across both our Yoga and Pilates studios, we're looking for someone who can help us clean the Pilates studio twice a week in the middle of the day.

It's a simple role, but a valuable one. Our Energy Exchange team helps keep the Village running smoothly while enjoying all the benefits of being part of our community.

OK, a stand-up comedy night on a yoga and Pilates studio Instagram page seems a little random...

But like all good jokes, this one takes a little explaining. 😉

Throughout May we've been exploring our Stand Up theme — working on strength, mobility and balance, and challenging ourselves to find new ways to get up off the floor with no hands.

So Stand Up May turned into Stand Up May... and June because we liked it so much.

And now it's time to wrap up the theme with an actual stand-up comedy night.

It all makes perfect sense if you don't think about it too hard. 😂

One of our foundation yogis (you know who you are Ian 🙌) helps organise events at the Old Ambulance Station in Nambour, so it seemed like the perfect excuse for a Village get-together.

The Laugh Legends from Funny Coast Comedy bring another hilarious evening of world-class stand-up comedy to the Black Box Theatre, Nambour.

Headlining the show is the hilarious Chris Wainhouse. With nearly 30 years of stand-up comedy experience, Chris delivers rapid-fire laugh-out-loud hilarity that will leave you gasping for breath. A few years ago Chris learned about political correctness and immediately decided it wasn't for him. You've been warned.

As always, the support line-up is stacked and includes the hilarious Katie Wainhouse hosting the show, along with Suraj Kolarkar and more.

Over winter we’ll be running a number of free community classes at Village to help some of our newer teachers gain practice teaching hours across different modalities.

We’ll change things up a little from week to week, but for next week it’s Mat Pilates. Qi Gong and Hatha classes will also be appearing in some of these community class spots soon.

These classes won’t be on the schedule forever — they’re simply a great opportunity while some of our teachers build confidence and experience.

So if you’ve been wanting to check out Village, here’s your chance. Tell your friends, come along for a free workout and a few laughs, and be part of the Village community.
