Congratulations to Craig Stewart, Craig Rourke and Darren Rourke on being selected to the SMCA 30th anniversary First XI Team.

Craig Stewart selected as Captain and number 11.
Craig Rourke selected number 8.
Darren Rourke selected number 12.

Originally announced as a squad of 15 players, the team was finalised last night to a 12-man squad.

A fantastic achievement for all three, and each thoroughly deserving of their place in this side. Well done gents.

🎉CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT 🎉

We’re excited to announce that 2007/08 1st Grade Premiership player Neil Benbow has joined the committee as Vice President.

The club received 2 nominations for the role however one candidate decided to withdraw their nomination.

Originally from Gosnells, Neil is a bowling all-rounder who played at Leeming before making his way to Phoenix, where he went on to play more than 200 games and score 5 centuries for the club.

Outside of cricket, Neil runs his own painting business and has always been a fantastic supporter of the club through sponsorship and other contributions over the years.

A great club person and an even better bloke — we’re thrilled to have Neil stepping into the VP role. Please join us in congratulating Neil.

We would also like to welcome our new general committee members: Andrew Summerfield and James Rourke

Phoenix Cricket Club and the committee would like to extend a big thank you to Jezza Dowsett and Mark Iannello. Both have been in pivotal roles supporting the club for many years, especially last season as President and Vice President. They have continued to grow the club, support our members, sort all the behind the scenes work and they both tried to fit cricket games in whenever they could. They are your friendly faces behind the bar and or in the kitchen. The club had a very successful season both on and off the field with 3 premierships and moving forward in a good financial position. Don’t worry you will still see Jezza and Mark at the club and when you do, be sure to buy them a drink!

Thank you to our outgoing committee members also from last season, your contributions, time and effort for the club are very much appreciated.

Phoenix Cricket Club would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Gibson Family on the passing of Michael Gibson.

Mike was presented as Life Member #20 in 2003

Phoenix Cricket Club President 1991/92 the season Phoenix won its first club champion award.

Clubman of Year- 1990/91 & 1991/92.

5th Grade Captain-
1983/84 & 1985/86.

Premierships 5th Grade-
1988/89 & 1990/91.

Mike played 175 Games and made 3074 runs.

Mike is the holder of the clubs highest 1st Wicket partnership of 236 with John Purdy in 1985.

Rest peacefully Mike, our thoughts are with Eileen, Craig, Derek, Roy and all the Gibson family.
